Dear First name / friend

I hope your Holidays were calm and filled with meaningful and hopeful memories. Ours were quiet – time with family and friends; plus a couple parties to attend.

Now, we enter 2023 together - each with different goals and aspirations. I've added to my blog and wrote a bit about ‘intentions’ (aka resolutions).

One memory from 2022 is connecting with an old friend. I'll try to keep this short:

As I taught a yoga class one morning, a smiling, new student walked in and told me she was referred to me by Jen.
When I owned a yoga studio in Salt Lake City, Jen happened to be one of the first teachers I hired. She also was the person who encouraged (and dragged) me to my first formal Teacher Training with Desiree Rumbaugh. Jen and I attended more trainings and many workshops together and could be found laughing and talking ‘yoga’ as we participated.

A great friendship and, unfortunately, one I had let lapse.

Jen lives about 300+ miles north of me now. So, what to do? I texted her, she responded, we zoomed, and are now planning to attend a workshop together in the Spring!  WooHoo !!!

A true ride down memory lane with a happy ending.

Back to business . . .

My teaching at Sage Yoga Studios remains the same:

Mondays & Thursdays at 10:30am    Aligned Yoga in Fallbrook
Tuesdays at 9:00am                          Therapeutic Yoga in Bonsall
Fridays at 9:00am                              Yoga Basics in Bonsall

And, I continue to offer individual yoga training and yoga therapy at North County Yoga Therapy (also in Bonsall by the US Post Office). You can contact me via email or phone to inquire about this offering.

on my end table:
say what you mean by Oren Jay Sofer. I've had this book for a while, but a comment made over the holidays caused me to pick it up. I hope it was an innocent comment, but it caused me to wonder how I could effectively respond to let them know the not-so-positive impact it had on me (at the time, I simply smiled). The book is a good introduction to NVC (nonviolent communication).

Simon the Fiddler by Pauline Jiles. A post-Civil War historical fiction about Simon - a young man devoted to his fiddle and to securing his future. It took me a while to get into it, but once in I kept reading.

for more light reading:
  1. Silver Sneakers article on benefits of Weight Training.
  2. Cup of Jo newsletter — lots of interesting and fun articles and links.
  3. And, my recent blog post is available for reading.

Until next time,
Leslie
