Good Morning,
2023…. it's got a nice ring to it hasn't it ?

Has your year begun gently ? With slow days to get you into the groove ? We hope so. And if it hasn't then we wish you a change of pace and brighter days ahead.

We're sending our thoughts and love to our schools from far North Queensland, along with our families in those regions. We know they love a wet season but this is pretty hectic stuff even for the most seasoned of locals.

To any families from the top of WA we're thinking of you too. The floods have been destructive and we know the feeling having suffered the same for much of 2021 and 2022 in regional NSW.

With that aside, we are able to look forward to 2023 - our NSW events are full and we have 30 schools exhibiting virtually all year round at Boarding Expo 365. Our second annual Australian Boarding Schools Summit will stream live in the latter part of the year - our first Summit can be watched on demand now.

I'm most excited about our podcast, currently in it's third season…. and our ‘shortlist’ feature being developed for our website - you will be able to register and then save all your favourite schools to your ‘shortlist’. How cool is that !

Keep an eye out for our B2B Accommodation Guide coming this year. ‘Boarder2Boarder’ - a list of accommodation in regional towns and metropolitan areas owned by boarding families happy to short term rent to other boarding families.

If you have a young person in your life beginning boarding school this year we wish you all the very best for a smooth transition. This newsletter is dedicated to you,  there are many resources here to help you and your family.

Take care,
Amanda

This is how they do it….
heading off to boarding school in 2023

Short chats with the current crop of boarders from right across Australia. They give  their best tips for nailing homesickness, best tips for making new friends and settling in, their ultimate packing tip and once all the dust has settled and they're loving their new digs, they tell us what they miss most about the boarding house when they head home for the holidays.
It's gold ! Adelaide and I were inspired by the insightful observations of these young students. Pop it on in the car or encourage your 2023 boarder to listen. They'll definitely get something out of it, and if nothing else, they'll know that their feelings and emotions are normal. There's comfort in that. The link here will take you to our chat with Sophie from Kincoppal - she began boarding in 2022 as a Year 10 student. My absolute favourite quote from Sophie…."just be yourself and see who sticks".
Dropping wherever you listen to your podcasts.

Some of the things we're loving …..

There may be some things in this newsletter that you would like to share with a friend - let them discover the good news about boarding and building communities away from the places we call home.
Enjoy your week, subscribe to Destination Boarding - The Podcast and if you have a minute we'd be so appreciative if you could like, rate and share.
It really helps others discover it!
