Happy New Year! Is it too late to share some year-end lists from 2022? Of course not. I love lists, charts, graphs and other collections of interesting information. Here are three that I think are particularly good. I am confident you'll find items on these lists that you've already enjoyed – and other items to add to your personal list of things to see and do in the future. These lists inspire me to review and track my creative accomplishments in new ways. Looking ahead at 2023, I'm eager to create more art quilt collages, teach more workshops and find new ways to share my ideas about the creative process. I hope the first days of 2023 are setting you up for a year full of creative growth and new adventures.

  1. Books I often refer to the Good Reads Choice Awards when I'm looking for my next book. I love that there are so many different categories. For a more complete list, it's even better to look at all the nominees and not just the winners. By the way, you can connect with me on Good Reads where I track everything I've read.
  2. Pop Culture Every year NPR Correspondent Linda Holmes publishes a list of “wonderful things.” They range from inspirational, to silly, to unexpected, to very popular, to completely unheard of. It's a great resource of things to watch, read, and listen to. It inspired me to keep my own list and remember how many wonderful things I've enjoyed through the year.
  3. Travel This list of 52 Places to Go is 2023 is also a collection of stunning photographs! I've been to 11 of these places and hope to visit many more. (Certainly not all in 2023!) Scrolling through this beautiful, diverse list is a great reminder of how many things there are to see to, foods to eat, cultures to study, places to hike and ideas to consider. (How about those camels crossing the river in Oman?!)

Studio Update

This and That
  • I've been sharing short videos on Instagram of my backyard crows and collecting them in this highlights tab.
  • These cookies are amazing! I'm making them for the third time today.
  • I really enjoyed the podcast Wild Boys. It's a different take on the “true crime” podcast format.

I've added a few new small art quilt collages to my shop including these two pieces from a purple and blue series. 💜💙
