Do you wake up feeling refreshed?
 
Most of us wake up with an alarm with a desire to roll over and go back to sleep.
 
High-quality sleep is like hitting the reset button for your body and mind. When you sleep well, you wake up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day. Plus, it helps repair and regenerate cells, tissues and muscles, and boost your immune system.
 
Not getting enough good sleep can lead to irritability, mood swings, and even depression. It can also affect your New Year's resolution of better diet and more exercise!  
 
Seriously, when you are sleep deprived, your brain turns into what it was like when you were a teenager. You actually lose your frontal lobe function and you're more likely to make impulsive decisions (Dr. Michael J Howell, sleep medicine physician, U of MN medical school). 
 
One study showed one night of sleep deprivation can increase the levels of hormones that make you feel hungry (pubmed study).
 
If only we could get MORE sleep.

3 simple tips to 
better quality sleep…

Before you climb under the sheets, massage your feet. Not only is it relaxing, it helps you get out of your head so you sleep more soundly. Add a grounding essential oil to make it even more potent. Any tree oil is grounding. We recommend: Valor or Frankincense from the Starter Bundle.

Use your personalized DIY pillow spray filled with your favorite fragrance. Good examples are Lavender, Valor, Stress Away, Peace & Calming. (And all of them come in the Starter Bundle!).  With a 2 oz glass spray bottle, add 2-4 drops of EO and then fill the rest with distilled water. Spray away!

Lay on the floor or on your bed with your legs up against the wall. Allow yourself to relax and focus on your breath. Stay for at least a couple of minutes or up to 20 minutes.

  • Valor: A grounding oil, Valor helps you stop thinking so you can relax and sleep. AND, I know this may sound crazy, but Valor on your big toe can reduce snoring. (From Laura: It works! I speak from experience!)

  • Stress Away: Kinda speaks for itself.
  • Peace & Calming: Also speaks for itself. :-)
  • Frankincense: A lovely, uplifting aroma.
