Let’s break down the energetic opportunities at hand and what to be mindful of on our daily journeys…
The Sun and the New Moon align in Aquarius.
Shifting from Capricorn season to Aquarius is synonymous with shifting from focus on the self to collective awareness. It’s not that we’ll stop thinking about what’s important to us, but our intentions will be rooted in expressing our most authentic truth for the betterment of the whole. It marks a shift into considering our communities, relationships, and connections, and how we can band together to help each other have a better collective human experience. It’s a shift into highlighting what’s true and what needs expression and tending to.
We’ll see this reflected in politics and what people will fight for to be under the political spotlight, we’ll see it in the media and how things will be marketed to us, and we’ll see it in our personal lives in respect to our relationships, work, and things we're devoted to. This is especially poignant as we come up on three years of restricted connection due to the pandemic. Just be careful not to go off the deep end. In its shadow, Aquarius tends to be too idealistic, stubborn, and detached.
New Moons are about clearing our slates and starting anew. With this New Moon in Aquarius, we might feel rebellious, but in a good way, poised to take a stand for what we believe in. What do you believe in? Where do your passions lie? How have these shifted since the Super Full Moon in Aquarius that took place August 11, 2022?
Speaking of passions…
The New Moon aligns closely with the Sun-Pluto conjunction.
As the Sun moved out of Capricorn and into Aquarius, it made a conjunction to Pluto. This is I-can-do-it-all sea goat energy coming together with the the planet of power, death, and rebirth.
For us, this highlights power dynamics and gives us a passionate itch to complete and succeed at a goal. Being that Pluto is synonymous with transformation, this could be great for us! Tapping into this energy amidst this New Moon could help us look deeper within and behind the scenes before we set intentions for success on our journeys.
Of course, there’s a shadow side to this too. On the flip, we could become abruptly obsessed with change. We could nitpick at ourselves, what we’ve done, and – more likely – what we haven’t done, dragging ourselves through a field of unkind words and unnecessary pressure. Check yourself before you wreck yourself, beloved. Even if this is a major moment of transformation for you, help yourself and stay in flow. Ask yourself:
- What have I learned about what I’m passionate about being?
- What am I proud of myself for?
- What do I want to improve about myself?
- How has my definition of success changed?
- What motivates me to be successful?
The New Moon sextiles Jupiter in Aries and we just walked into 92 retrograde-free days!
How yummy! The New Moon in harmonious aspect to Jupiter, the planet of expansion, in Aries, the sign of action. This juxtaposition gifts us gorgeous energy that thrusts us forward to help us make the things that we’ve been wanting to make happen happen. Expand your perspective because the resources, connections, and inspiration that you thought you were lacking in order to make something come to life were probably on their way to meet you now. If you generally have trouble receiving, put it into practice now. Say yes and just think, what's the best that could happen?
Speaking of making things happen…
We ended 2022 and started 2023 with Mars and Mercury in retrograde feeling like they were AT OUR NECKS. But now that they’ve both stationed direct and are slowly going back to normal orbit (we’re still in their shadow periods in case you’ve been wondering why it still feels retrograde-y), we’re slowly entering into a period of 92 glorious retrograde-free days!
*CUE THE FIREWORKS!* The forward magic starts on January 22-23 when Uranus retrograde ends.
Whether we’ve purposely slowed down or have been feeling dragged, these three-ish months of direct planetary movement are a big deal. Just as all of the planets will be moving forward, we will have the ideal conditions to do the same. And after the past few months of deliberate planetary sluggishness, we were poised to gain a lot of clarity about what we need to release and make moves on (Mercury Rx) and how we need to make those moves in new and refreshed ways that serve our greatest good and the highest potentional of our personal missions (Mars Rx).
Ask yourself:
- What parts of my life have been stalled that I’m looking forward to going forward with?
- What have I been called to release? What have I been called to pivot and how?
- Regarding open projects and loose ends, what resources and connections have been missing that I’m open to receiving now so that I can move forward with completing them?
January 22 marks the Lunar New Year, the year of the Yin Rabbit.
The Lunar New Year, or Chinese New year, is celebrated by over 2 billion people all over the globe and typically begins with the first new moon between the end of January and is celebrated during the first 15 days of the lunar calendar until the full moon arrives. Each year is represented by one of 12 zodiac animals, this year ushering in the year of the Yin Rabbit.
We’re leaving behind the year of the Water Tiger, an emotionally-driven year, where quick tempers, big decisions, strength, and bravery were highlighted. In full contrast, to 2022’s masculine Yang year, we’re welcoming in the Yin year of the Rabbit, a much more passive year where feminine energy will permeate.
Confirming 2023’s 7-year energy of getting in touch with the deeper aspects of yourself, your intuition, and your connection to your spirit, the Yin Rabbit year is ideal for deep reflection, recalibration, and renewal. It’s a work-smarter-not-harder, go-with-the-flow, be fluid so you don’t block your prosperity type of year. A year of great personal growth, and soft collective evolution. As an agent of collective change, I cannot WAIT to see how the world has changed by the end of 2023.
