Hi neighbors!
I am thrilled to be writing you this note from my office in Juneau, where myself and my staff are already hard at work on behalf of West Anchorage.
Our first day was last Tuesday, January 17. We organized last week and I'm proud to be serving on the State Affairs and Resources committees.
There are currently three bills that I am co-sponsoring, including ones focused on child care and reproductive health care. I'll share details and links to each of those bills in my next newsletter.
Our House Coalition priorities are to meaningfully increase the BSA, return to a defined benefit for all public employees, and create a fiscal plan rooted in stability. I am excited to be working with all of my colleagues on these issues, which are a top priority for me.
Myself and my staff are researching legislation we plan to introduce around mental health, reproductive health care, supporting victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, childcare, and protecting workers.
I also spoke on the house floor this week about postpartum healthcare and my support of the Governor's proposal to expand postpartum healthcare coverage for those on Medicaid from 60 days to 12 months. You can watch the 1-minute clip here.
We'll soon be sending out a survey in the mail (that can also be completed digitally). It is a top priority for me to hear from you and what matters most, so please be on the lookout for this!
I am always available to you - do not hesitate to contact me at my office (907-465-4968) or my cell (907-280-9600).
I am honored to be serving you,
Jennie
