Be Well
A Weekly Email Filled With Wellness News and Resources to Feel Your Best

Hi First name / friends

I had a list of things I wanted to write about in today's newsletter, but something funny has happened instead. For the last several days, I haven't been able to get a certain Disney song out of my head and I feel an urge to tell you about it.

Let me back up.

A few weeks ago, Raffi (my 3-year-old) discovered Frozen 2. Since then, we've had it playing in the background while doing other things. I mostly wasn't paying attention to it, but the other night, I finally sat down to watch it with him. And about 17 minutes in, I heard the song. No, not “Let It Go,” which is from the first film, but “Into the Unknown.” Have you heard this song? Is it as famous and well-known as “Let It Go?” Am I totally behind on this?

if so, it wouldn't surprise me, but still. I feel the need to tell you about how powerful hearing this song was for me. For those who haven't seen or heard it, you can watch it below and read the lyrics here

I'll spare you the full storyline, but to summarize the placement of the song, Queen Elsa hears a voice calling to her, but she denies it, and it keeps coming back. She's scared of listening to the voice because of the risks involved, but she knows that she secretly wants to follow it, even though she is scared. Eventually, she does follow it and it leads her to discovering the truth about her family and herself. Essentially, the song is about listening to your own intuition and following it, despite the fears that come with it.

We all know what this feels like, right? Hearing that little whisper, knowing you need to do something about it, but feeling too afraid to move forward. There are a few times I have felt this strong pull.

Among them is when I left my “dream job” last year because I was no longer feeling aligned. Another, when I came out as queer at 30 years old. Both were terrifying realizations, but both have led me to where I am today, which is to say, I've truly never been happier. My life obviously isn't perfect (there's no such thing), but these decisions brought me to my personal truth and I've never felt more honest and authentic than how I feel today. So maybe happy isn't necessarily the right word, but I am being truly myself and that feels very positive, even when things are hard.

So why am I sharing this today?

Well, maybe your intuition isn't knocking you over the head with revelations as big as mine or Elsa's. But perhaps there is something that's been on your mind lately that you've been sitting with. If so, I invite you to take some time this weekend to make a plan around “that thing.”

Maybe it's related to your work, or your health, or your relationships. Or something else entirely. What are you being called to do? Are you honoring your inner voice, or shushing it? What are you willing to do or change?

No wrong answers! All just food for thought.

As always, I'm here if you want to chat about these things or anything else.

Wishing you a weekend full of exploring the unknown.

xo.

We all carry feminine and masculine wisdom. However, often times, one or both of these energies is out of balance, silenced, wounded, less developed, misunderstood or disrespected. We are going to identify both these energies in our bodies, emotions and thoughts. And through body movement, dance, breath-work and shamanic healing, we will recognize, release and empower the Divine Feminine Energy in us.
