From the Mayor's Desk
As we kick off Black History Month, I want to invite you to our keynote program, Treasure Your Roots, on February 11th at 2:00 pm at the College Park Auditorium. The committee has been working hard to make this an outstanding event!

Please join us on February 15th for College Park Day at the Capitol. We did this event in 2020 and it was a great opportunity to connect with our representatives under the Gold Dome. As the legislative session begins, we are closely watching a number of issues. We know issues around EMS service, build-to-rent communities and design standards will directly impact College Park. Your voice is critical as these issues are being decided. To secure your spot, please call 404-669-3755.

As you know, we began the year with some challenges with our water supply after a deep freeze took hold of the entire region. As soon as the acute crisis subsided, our team got to work to ensure we will be better prepared for the next emergency. We’ve embarked upon a crisis communication planning process to get information to you faster. We’re also working with our community partners to update our emergency operations plan and talking with our water suppliers to ensure we can respond to challenges in real time.

I am excited to share that I was selected to serve on the National League of Cities’ Public Safety and Crime Prevention Federal Advocacy Committee for the second consecutive year. This committee provides strategic direction and guidance for NLC’s federal advocacy agenda and policy priorities on public safety issues, including law enforcement, municipal fire prevention, natural disaster preparedness, and homeland security. I have also been serving as the third vice president of GMA since last summer. Through these positions, I’ve been able to make connections with leaders across the country to bring back ideas and resources that directly benefit College Park and help us keep on building the community we deserve.

As always, I’m here to serve you. I have monthly one-on-one meetings if you’d like to address any particular concerns. Please call 404-669-3755 to schedule your time. Thank you for your support of our city. I look forward to a fantastic 2023!

Keeping You In The Know As We Grow
Georgia International Convention Center Gateway Center Arena College Park Historic College Park Golf Course

The Gateway Center Campus, which includes our own GA International Convention Center, the Gateway Center Arena and the Historic College Park Golf Course has a LOT going on for the first quarter of 2023! Our most exciting update for this month is that a vendor will be selected by mayor and council in early February for a campus-wide signage project. Once completed, this new directional signage will make it easier for newcomers to find our facilities and will ease traffic congestion for event-goers and passers-by alike! Whether attendees are coming from 85 or 285 to Camp Creek Parkway, or entering campus from Roosevelt Highway- there will be plenty of additional signage directing them to both the GICC as well as the arena, from all 3 entrances onto campus.

Economic Development
College Park is expanding on the phrase “Live and Work”  in College Park with the ground breaking of Diamond College Park on January 28th and the Grand Opening of Hawthorne Station Homes on February 25th.

Diamond College Park is a 60-unit workforce affordable housing development property that is adjacent to the College Park MARTA station and a block from downtown's restaurants and shops. Workforce affordable housing is that built to serve families that are sitting in the middle between true affordable housing and luxury housing. This development is also in conjunction with College Park's  125-Year -Old First United Methodist Church's redevelopment.

Hawthorne Station is a new home community featuring single-family homes with 3 to 4 bedrooms per plan*, and 2.5 baths per plan*, located in College Park, minutes from the best of Atlanta. This community features easy access to Downtown Atlanta, The Delta Museum, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, dining, retail, and the Six West Development Project.
