A long time ago I realized I was not in the diamond and jewelry business. I am in the “romance” business. How amazing is that? Jewelry and romance go hand-in hand. Diamonds and jewelry convey our emotional connection to the person we are gifting it to…even if that person is ourselves. What a beautiful, joyous business to be part of. Can you see why I would love it so much?

 

Dating way back to 1477 with Mary of Burgandy accepting the first diamond ring for her betrothal to her beloved, Archduke Maximillian, diamonds have symbolized the ultimate commitment, love, and adoration. 

 

Valentine’s Day means love is in the air! Engagements are abound! Engagements are one of my favorite connections to make…being part of this incredible time in the life of a couple who want to commit to sharing their lives together. Valentine’s Day can also be the best time to say I LOVE YOU…I’D MARRY YOU ALL OVER AGAIN with an upgrade to your original diamond or a diamond anniversary band or eternity ring.

Think of all the millions of carats of diamonds which have been mined throughout the decades. Mostly white, or graduated shades of yellow, natural fancy color diamonds likes blue, pink, and green are rare. But red diamonds are the rarest of them all. Red diamonds are so rare that less than thirty true red natural diamonds are known to exist in the world. And the largest ever was found in Brazil…a 13.90 Carat rough diamond which was cut into a 5.11 Carat…which is not large at all.  Read this story of diamonds so unusual and rare, they have only been acquired by collectors with deep pockets. 

 

 

I’m heading off to Costa Rica for a 10-day vacation in February. Can’t wait to explore that extraordinarily beautiful country with its unique flora and fauna and incredibly warm climate. Oh darn…just hate to leave Wisconsin in winter! I want to explore all of it’s wonders and even hope I run into some ocelots and margays which are native there. Did you know I used to raise these exotic cats?

 

When I return, I am gearing up to hit a few jewelry trade shows this spring to source amazing new vendors for diamonds, jewelry and gifts! It’s so exciting to be part of this cutting-edge industry and be surrounded by designers and manufacturers sharing their newest creations. I love finding the unique to offer my clients.  It’s high energy and intrigue! You can only imagine how tight the security is at these trade shows, for within the walls of the exhibitors’ halls, literally hundreds of millions of $$$ dollars sit on display to tempt the buyers. It all gets locked in huge vaults at night with armed guards standing by. I totally feel safe there!

Have you ever heard the term…health is wealth? In reality, it boils down to in order to have the ultimate freedom to enjoy life…we need to enjoy good health. It’s something money cannot buy! And we are in control of our own health outcomes more than we’ve been taught to believe. We can affect our own wellness if we follow some basic rules we probably already know.

 

Eat your fruits & veggies (9-13 servings each day), drink enough water, get 7-8 hours of sleep each night, exercise and move your body daily, practice mindfulness with meditation or yoga each day, eliminate fast foods & unhealthy snacks, eliminate sugar and processed foods…and have a positive outlook on life! 

 

I’m going to address an important one here that is easy to get control of!  Getting enough fresh, safe, nutrient dense, organic produce into our diets each day. Do we really trust the produce departments at our local stores? Even at more natural products food stores, we have no idea where the produce came from, how it was grown, when it was picked, who picked it and touched it, and how long did it take to get onto the grocery shelves.  How fresh is it really?

 

For the past 10 years, I’ve grown my own organic produce indoors and outdoors, year-round, in my Tower Garden…which is compact system which grows a whole lot of food. I grow spinach, kale, Swiss chard, lettuces, herbs, peppers, tomatoes, zucchini, and so much more!  I finally have true “food sovereignty”. It’s safe, nutritious, grown right under my own nose and I am the only one touching it to harvest. I eat what I want for the day from the Tower Garden, and watch the rest continue to grow. It’s always fresh!  It’s so much more tasty and nutritious than store bought.
