BEAVER BITES

  • Remember the long waits for passports? Well, thankfully, those days are over. Service Canada has issued two millions passports since April 2022, clearing more than 98% of the backlog.

  • Unless one of you kind, rich readers is planning to put us in your will, it's unlikely we'll be buying a million-dollar house anytime soon. However, here's what million-dollar homes look like across the country.

  • Québec has no shortage of problems at the moment, but rent isn't one of them. Nine of the top ten cheapest cities in Canada are in Québec, with Trois-Rivières taking top place with an average monthly rent of $676. Not bad!

  • Have you ever read a novel that was inspired by Vancouver? A co-host of the Canadaland podcast recently claimed that the city has never inspired a novel, which, of course, inspired this list of 7 great novels that have Vancouver as the backdrop.

  • Making movies doesn't need to be expensive, especially in the horror genre. Just ask Kyle Edward Ball, the Edmonton-based filmmaker behind Skinamarink, a $15,000 horror movie that has already brought in more than $1.5 million at the box office.
