PROJECT UPDATE
Independent Living Facility
Council is undergoing consultation with the Aged Care Advisory Committee. Stage 1 of the three stage build plan is set to commence late 2023

GENERAL MEETING UPDATES

JANUARY
  • Gulf Savannah NRM presented Council with the draft Northern Gulf Region ‘Natural Resource Management Plan 2022-2032’
  • Council adopted their 2022-2023 Annual Report
  • Council adopted their revised and updated Drug and Alcohol Policy
  • Council presented Paul Attwood with a Certificate of Recognition for 15 years Service
FEBRUARY
  • Council adopted the amended Town Common Policy and are currently liaising with agistees through transition
  • Council appointed Ms Valerie Gray to the Aged Care Advisory Committee
  • Council committed to the construction of Stage 1 on the Independent Living Facility and are investigating funding sources
  • Council commited to the construction of the Green Street Housing Project and are investigating funding sources
  • Council has engaged contractor services to conduct a trail mosquito program and develop an integrated mosquito management plan
  • Council resolved to support AAM Investment Group with the re-establishment of a training facility on what was formally known as the Longreach Pastoral College

Economic Development Strategy
Etheridge Shire Council has launched an important new plan to set the future economic development and strategic direction of the region.
The Economic Development Strategy sets a clear direction for Council to ensure that economic development is at its core, and includes a comprehensive action plan with a full range of activities to ensure success.

North West Regional Biosecurity Plan
Etheridge Shire Council are one of 10 Local Governments working together to collectively manage invasive pest species. The North West Queensland Regional Biosecurity Plan has been facilitated and compiled by Southern Gulf NRM and developed in partnership with the North West Queensland Regional Organisation of Council's.
