Hey First name / Biz Owner, are you missing out on clients because they can't find you online?

Here at Succeeding Small, we like to say that “with visibility comes success.”

When people in your community know about you and trust you, you’ll have more leads, you’ll increase your revenue, and your business will be able to GROW

Whatever marketing strategy you choose for 2023, increasing your business’s visibility should be a priority. So today, we wanted to help you evaluate your current online presence and identify areas for improvement.

Walking through even just a few of these steps can help you understand how your business appears to potential clients.

Let’s get started:

1. Type your business name into Google.

Is your website the first link in the results? Do you have a Google Business Profile listing set up so that you’re also on the right-hand side of the page?

Here's an example from one of our clients who has an optimized site and business listing:

2. Open an incognito browser and search for a phrase that describes your business, such as “veterinarian in Colorado Springs.”

Are you showing up on the first page of Google for that term? You can try a couple of variations if you’d like. In order to do this search effectively, remember to use an incognito browser! This clears your search history and will give you a better picture of what your ideal customers are seeing on Google.

3. Go to the home page of your website.

Is it immediately clear what you offer? If a potential customer lands on your home page, will they know what to do next?

(For tips on how to make sure your site converts visitors into leads, make sure to download our free guide “10 Reasons Your Site Isn’t Converting.”)

4. Search your business name on social media.

If you have social media profiles set up, make sure that your pages are the first result. If not, try filling out your profile completely and including links back to your site.

How did you do? If you were having trouble finding your business during steps 1 and 2, that’s a good sign that you might want to focus on optimizing your site for Google during 2023. If your customers can’t find your site, they’ll go somewhere else!

We’ll be popping into your inbox shortly with some resources for optimizing your site, but in the meantime, check out our podcast for more information on SEO and small business marketing strategies.
