Be Well
A Weekly Email Filled With Wellness News and Resources to Feel Your Best

Hi friends,

It's February! We're in the second month of the year (already!) and this tends to be the time when new year's resolutions begin to dwindle. This is why I don't do resolutions because I'm not a great planner and then I feel guilty for not following through. Instead, I choose a word for the year because it helps me get back on track when I sense I'm veering off course from reaching my goals.

This year, my word is MOTION

Motion defined as: the action or process of moving or being moved.

Moving from one thing to another.
One foot in front of the other.
How can I keep moving forward even when things get hard?
What small action can I take to propel myself forward?

Here's an example from my personal life.

I was recently feeling down and tired from a bad night's sleep. I was scrolling on Instagram and while it's usually a source of inspiration for me, I found myself stuck in comparison mode. It seemed everyone was touting their success and fortune with their beautiful homes, designer clothes, and fun vacations. I'm not materialistic per se, but social media is designed to make these uncomfortable feelings arise when all you're seeing is other people's highlight reels.

I found myself wallowing in "I'm not good enough" kind of thoughts. But then I remembered my word. Motion. How can I keep moving towards my goals, even when I feel behind?

I got up from the couch and walked to my desk. I opened up my laptop and wrote out my plans for the week. I reviewed my to-do lists, drafted a few emails, and revised my strategy for a project I'm working on. Simply put, I did the work.

And then I felt better! Unstuck. In Motion. I didn't complete a huge task, but I took a lot of little steps that will eventually get me to where I want to be. That's what my word is about this year.

Sharing this here because I want you to be inspired to take action too. What small thing can you do today to get closer to your goals? What can you put into motion?

Wishing you a warm and cozy weekend!
xo,
Lisa

I curate this weekly list with absolute joy because loneliness is an epidemic and I believe we could all benefit from more in-person community events where making friends and deep connections are encouraged. I am not affiliated with these events and I may or may not not be attending them myself, but they piqued my interest so I wanted to share.
