The above image is of some flyers I had on my bulletin board outside of my studio here at the Tannery Marketplace. Someone took it upon themselves to express their beliefs and fear while I was in with a client.  I often get people, mostly of the Christian faith stopping by and telling me they are praying for my soul and to let me know I am doing Satan's work. 

 

Here is the thing, I respect ALL beliefs I really do, but what I do not respect is when you use your religious beliefs as a weapon of hate and fear.  That is not what religion should be and it is not a representation of Christ that he would even want.  Christ did not teach hate and fear, he taught love, tolerance, and forgiveness.  

 

So, I found myself looking inward and asking myself what energy am I feeding?  Am I feeding the fear, paranoia, hate, and anger that is plaguing our society?  Or am I sending love and light? As humans it is so easy to get caught up in the hate and anger, but as spiritual beings we are called to bring love and light to this world.

 

Our media and government feed into the fear, paranoia, hate, and anger. They are desensitizing us, causing us to look the other way when we see injustices.  We tell ourselves it is not our concern and avoid getting involved.  This also dehumanizes us as well, it causes us to become indifferent, unempathetic towards each other, and just overall numb inside. We are becoming robots - unfeeling, uncaring, unmotivated, and unable to think for ourselves.

 

We are called to be better, to do better.  We are called to be the light in this darkness and to spread love and compassion.  Just because something or someone is different than you it doesn't make it bad or evil.  Just because you don't understand something doesn't make it evil.  Do not let ignorance define things for you, question it, learn about it, but do not fear it.

 

I pray whoever felt the need to write evil on my flyers will awaken to the truth.  May love and light surround them and may they be freed from the prison of fear and ignorance!
