BEAVER BITES

  • Canada has more coastline than any other country on Earth and thankfully, we're going to be protecting a lot more of it. New regulations will ban destructive marine activities, like trawling the sea floor and dumping waste, across 14% of Canada’s ocean waters. The feds will also work with First Nations groups to cooperatively manage a huge marine ecosystem (measuring 133,019 square km) off the coast of BC with the ultimate goal of conserving 25% of our seawater by 2025.

  • A group of revolutionary chefs in the Arctic and subarctic have joined forces to celebrate indigenous culture by developing a new kind of cuisine using traditional ingredients, helping to revive the Arctic's forgotten food.

  • It has long been a goal of ours to help tap maple syrup trees in Quebec and it looks like there's going to be a lot of opportunity for that in the coming years. Thanks to climate change, Maple syrup producers are tapping their trees earlier than ever, which is leading not only to record harvests but also much more growing opportunities in the coming years. Canada is already the world's leading producer and now we'll be producing even more.

  • Is it just us or has real estate “investing” gotten out of hand? According to Statistics Canada, 31.5% of homes in Nova Scotia are owned by investors, followed by 23.3% in BC and 20.2% in Ontario. No wonder there's no homes to buy.
