In session with a client this week, they noted how they felt like lately they had taken all of the things out of their proverbial closet and spread them over the floor, and now sitting amidst this “mess” they wanted to put it all back in the closet again.
Which is totally fine.
And you can. No one outside of yourself can compel you to clean up the mess, or to take it all out of the closet in the first place. There have been times when I've opened my closet only to slam the door and spin around. NOT TODAY!
Often the processes of self-examination, accountability, and growth are messy and confusing, even overwhelming. Just because you can now *see* everything doesn’t necessarily bring about clarity. And clarity itself doesn’t equate to change. Tackling the entire pile in the middle of the room can be daunting. So, we start from one end—I prefer the one near the door, but it could be any end—and go piece by piece with patience and care. By doing so, we tend to move with the ease of simplicity and pieces start to find their way into their own sorted piles.
It goes without saying that we live in a culture of immediacy, which fuels our individual anxiety. We want to feel "good." We want growth like it's a tattoo we can apply and suddenly be a different character; but anyone with tattoos who's done an iota of self-reflection knows that just ain't how it works…
We want change as if we could draw the future over this present moment like a blanket and never have to understand or accept the now.
But the Sun just moved into Pisces yesterday and we are here in the season of summation. Everything that you've learned over the last year has now or is integrating into your understanding, and it will take a little time to know how and where to apply this new wisdom. Allow it to move through you, to condense and collect and flow. You don't have to do anything with it just yet.
Tonight’s New Moon in Pisces brings a welcome tide of renewal. With all major planetary bodies direct, we finally can tap into a forward-oriented current and actually begin work on the new structures that will support our visions, dreams and values. Although we may see more of this on the collective and global scale starting in March and as we head into late spring, we are now heading into a season of buzzing contraction before the launch into Aries season. Pisces energy is dreamy and imaginative, intuitive and spiritual. It’s another liminal season where we’re given the opportunity to connect deeply with our own interpretations of Source or Spirit.
On a personal note, I’m trying to move away from the language of a “higher” self, and into the language of the eternal self. Hierarchy between selves denies the Cosmic principle of equality, that each thing is of equal dignity to the next. The human form and the ego are not base or flawed or “bad,” and these beliefs really only serve to empower the control of the collective ego, to homogenize and entrap us into dependency on false truths and limitations.
Pisces energy can open us to feeling. Not just emotionally, but somato-emotionally. The body has a beautiful system of cellular consciousness, and we store thoughts, ideas and beliefs in our tissue. Pisces knows that our greatest wisdom is not separate from the body, but deeply intertwined with it. Just as groundwater begins to thaw and sap runs from trees, so too does the accumulated wisdom of the last season and last several years begin to flow through our capillaries.
Right after the New Moon peaks in Pisces, Venus moves into Aries. This can bring about new love or new perspectives on love, self-love, and the drive to live by our values… and our love. The last few years have seen us reworking, honing, and polishing our value systems. When Venus moves into Aries, we won’t be looking back. This doesn’t mean that we agree on a collective scale, but we can communicate these values through our individual efforts and relationships, potentially creating a ripple effect that strengthens our commitments and empowers our local communities through attraction versus division.
As a new moon, this is an opportune time to close the door on your deep winter projects and to make space in your awareness and attention for the next season. Perhaps you followed along with the Human Design New Year and during Aquarius season you used that airy, mental energy to fully conceptualize your resolutions. Perhaps you jumped full-steam ahead into 2023 and you’re feeling a little winded. Either way, this Pisces season is a herald for lots of new information, new movement, and new structures to come. Begin your projects that will require the most from your imagination by actually getting your feet on the ground. Take those ideas for a test run by living them. It’s time to get out of our heads and back into the body, with the first order of business being a reset.
FOR THE BODY
Pisces rules the lymphatic system, pineal gland and feet.
â—¦
Bodywork, whether it's therapeutic massage or specifically manual lymphatic drainage, as well as gentle exercise can stimulate the flow and flushing of the lymphatic system. *read more below*
â—¦
Get a pedicure or a reflexology session to release tension in the feet! They can hold a lot of tension, and for many of us, this is our constant connection to Earth.
â—¦
The pineal gland—also known as our third eye—is a mystical gland in the center of the brain that (among other things) regulates the production of the sleep hormone melatonin. Stimulate this gland with some (safe) direct sunlight exposure, preferably during sunrise and sunset.
â—¦
Add some seaweed and algae to your diet and eat plenty of chlorophyl rich foods. Bladderwrack, for example can cleanse the kidneys and clear lymph congestion, as well as support your metabolism and address bacterial and fungal infections.
â—¦
Work with sandalwood, mugwort, and passionflower to connect with your dreams; as well as labradorite, amethyst, and aquamarine to strengthen your boundaries, bring spiritual abundance, and empower you on these open waters.

The sign of Pisces corresponds to our lymphatic system and the pineal gland, as well as other fluid exchange systems of the body, the feet and the toes. The lymphatic system is a collection of delicate channels, ducts, and organs that assist in the purification of the watery lymphatic fluid as it collects waste fluids from the body. All vertebrates possess a lymphatic system, and some invertebrates possess lymphoid tissues and lymphatic organs. In short this system is crucial to our immune system, circulation, and the function of nearly every organ in the body. It is continuously clearing waste and toxins from our tissues and blood, detecting harmful pathogens, and balancing the fluids within our body systems. Although the lymphatic system has smooth muscles to help move the lymph and other fluids toward the nodal centers, it also relies on large muscle contractions from movement and exercise to flush the system. Lymphatic drainage is actually a very tender process, and manual lymphatic drainage through bodywork is gentle and soothing. Not all processes of detoxification need to be astringent. Sometimes the most profound calibrations come from the smallest of adjustments.
The lymphatic system also serves as the boundary keeper between our body and harmful toxins or disease. During Pisces season, it’s important to check in with your energetic and psychic boundaries as well as emotional and physical. Receptivity is heightened so it will serve to know where and how we are receiving things. Where can you fortify a boundary to keep expectations clear? Perhaps with a boss or a loved one? You may need to reset your boundaries with social media or social commitments. During this season of fluid flowing, we are flushing and reestablishing our clear channels.
At the peak of the New Moon, the Sun and Moon will be in Gate 55 according to the Human Design calendar. I bring up these gates on New Moons because not only will we be experiencing the energy from this gate due to the Sun’s influence shining during our daily life, but also in our inner, emotional worlds and as a stirring within the soul from the influence of the Moon. Gate 55 is known as Abundance, the Gate of Spirit, and it serves as the cosmic truth that an abundance of spirit is what determines abundance at all. Located in the Solar Plexus center, this gate can also carry a heavy melancholy for it holds the whole spectrum of emotions as they are integral to the human experience. It is not a question of comparison: ”good” to “bad” or half full/half empty; but the wonder that there is a glass at all precedes the understanding of abundance.
We’ve been on the receiving end of a lot of new information and energy lately, and there is more to come. The new can be uncomfortable, it can be scary. Especially when it comes to relating with other people, what is new to us is very often met with our distrust. And this distrust can serve our survival, for sure. But when we allow the distrust to remain in place, we negate any opportunity for mutation, transformation, or connection.
In Human Design, there is an element of the chart called “Sense.” It is found in your variables, specifically the placement of your conscious Sun within its gate. Your Sense is how your aura meets something new, and there are six expressions: Security, Uncertainty, Action, Meditation, Judgment, and Acceptance. When you encounter a new person, place, thing, or idea from outside of yourself, engaging with your sense supports your Strategy and Authority to determine if/how something is for you or not.
Use your Sense as a way to support your Strategy whether that's to respond, be invited, visualize and inform, or to wait for a lunar cycle. We are not all meant to immediately take action when we receive new information, and in fact, it usually creates more conflict and chaos. When we do, we end up expending our precious attention and energy in ways that deplete or exhaust our vitality. You're allowed to take a moment, at any moment.
If you'd like to learn more about your Sense and how it can support your Strategy and Authority, feel free to drop me a line with a quick question, or book a reading or INITIATION package to work with your design as it applies to your current challenges and conflicts.
