Put Yourself First:
The Power of Self-Love & Self-Care 🀍

Welcome to another lovely week  Name / Friend

I've decided to start a weekly intention email! Each week will tie into a monthly theme and help us find yoga off the mat.

This week, let's focus on the importance of self-love and self-care. Taking care of ourselves first enables us to be better partners, friends, and family members. By practicing self-love and self-care, we become more aware of our own needs and become better equipped to handle life's challenges.

We have known self-care to be essential milenia ago:
"The care of the self is not a selfish act, it is an act of self-love."
Epictetus (c. 50-135 CE)
And as the wonderful author and poet Maya Angelou said:
"I do not trust people who do not love themselves and yet tell me, 'I love you.' There is an African saying which is: Be careful when a naked person offers you a shirt."

πŸ‘‰ So this week, I encourage you to make time for yourself. Take a relaxing bath, read a book, or enjoy a long walk in nature. Choose a restorative yoga class over a more power one, if you feel like it. Whatever it is that brings you joy and makes you feel good, prioritize it. Remember, taking care of yourself isn't a luxury, it's a necessity.

πŸ™Œ What we can learn from Rihanna πŸ™Œ
Rihanna is radical in her self love and I LOVE her for it. She epitomized self-love in her Super Bowl performance: by honoring her own boundaries and loving herself enough to ONLY perform what she felt was authentic, she was able to dominate the stage without dancing, revealing clothing, costume changes, or guest performers. Although not everyone loved her performance, those who love her loved her MORE for standing in her own power. This is powerful because it reminds us that β€œthat those who care don't matter, and those that matter don't care.” And let's be real: the Superbowl needs Rihanna far more than she needs the superbowl! Rihanna became the first woman to be a self-made billionaire in 2022.
