Four-Day Week Results in - it's a ‘Major Breakthrough’

Many UK firms in the four-day work week trial extend changes; a total of 61 UK companies trialled a four day week for the second half of 2022, with almost 3,000 staff involved with participating organisations from a wide range of sectors.

Self-reported levels of staff burnout decreased 71%, more than a third of employees said they were less stressed and 60% of staff said that with the extra day of free time they found it easier to combine their job with care responsibilities.

LEGISLATION UPDATE

King's Coronation

In 2023, an additional Bank Holiday on Monday 8th May will celebrate The King’s Coronation. Whether this means employees are entitled to this extra day’s holiday will vary depending on the wording of the employee’s contract. See our handy guide to understand your responsibility as an employer.

BUSINESS TEMPLATE

Shared Parental Leave

Shared parental leave (SPL) is an alternative to maternity leave, meaning that the maximum amount of 50 weeks of leave allowed after childbirth can be shared between parents (after the first 2 compulsory weeks following the birth). When this legislation was introduced in 2015, it was intended to give parents more flexibility surrounding childcare and empower women to maintain their careers.

There are few hard and fast rules regarding how parental leave is shared, and it is down to the parents to decide the amount of leave each takes and when it can even be taken simultaneously. Click the link below to locate your shared parental leave template.
