Mariona Miret Giribet és una emprenedora que treballa per la revitalització lingüística de les llengües amenaçades del món. Va estudiar un Grau en Filologia catalana i occitana (Universitat de Lleida) i un Màster en Relacions Internacionals (IBEI). Durant els anys que va passar fent voluntariat i treballant a l'estranger va experimentar en primera persona què significa enfrontar-se a una situació d’extinció lingüística real a Sardenya, i allò la va marcar profundament. Des de llavors, les llengües minoritzades d'Europa han captat tot el seu interès.

 

El focus de la seva feina és la llengua OCCITANA i el ric patrimoni d’aquesta cultura, des dels trobadors a l'època medieval fins a l'actualitat, amb una passió particular per la poesia contemporània i l’activisme cultural. És la representant de la Missió Internacional de la Chambra d’Òc, associació que promou l’occità a les valls de muntanya del Piemont (Itàlia). La seva experiència l’ha dut a treballar a la delegació de la Diputació de Barcelona a Brussel·les, i a la Direcció General de Política Lingüística de la Generalitat de Catalunya. També és traductora especialitzada en occità aranès.

 Mariona Miret Giribet is an entrepreneur working for the revitalisation of the endangered languages of the world. She studied a Bachelor in Catalan & Occitan language and literature, and a Master’s in International Relations. When she was volunteering in Sardinia, she experimented first-hand what it means to face a language extinction situation, and that left a deep imprint on her. From that moment on, she started getting engaged in the arena of minority language communities in Europe.

 

The focus of her work is the OCCITAN language and the rich heritage of this culture, spanning back from the troubadours in the Medieval ages, until nowadays, with a particular passion for contemporary poetry and cultural activism. She is the representative of the International Mission of Chambra d’Òc, an association promoting Occitan in the mountain valleys of Piedmont, Italy. Her experience has led her to working in the delegation of the Barcelona Provincial Council in Brussels, and in the General Directorate of Language Policy of the Government of Catalonia. She is also an Aranese Occitan translator.
