I've broken down the steps in the pattern (minus the measurements) for making the HST's. The pattern uses the 8-at-a-time method; meaning you will make 8 HST's from two square pieces of fabric. To make them you need to… 1️⃣ On the backside of an I or K piece (whichever is the easiest to see a drawn line on) mark two diagonal lines from corner to corner, creating an "X". I like to use a Frixion pen for this step. 2️⃣ Pin an I and K piece, right sides together. I like pin the pieces together in all four corners, lining up the edges, perpendicular to the drawn line. 3️⃣ Sew ¼" away from the drawn lines, on both sides. 4️⃣ Trim the HST unit along the drawn lines. 5️⃣ Then trim those triangle units in half again. I like to stack two of the triangles on top of each other, making sure the edges are lined up, to speed up the process. 6️⃣ You'll now have 8 HST's that you'll need to press and trim down to the size specified in the pattern.
