Hi friends, Did you have a recharging weekend, or a draining one? I looked ahead at my two upcoming weekends and realized I have commitments on those Saturdays, so I decided this magical Saturday (yesterday) would be a do-nothing Saturday. I woke up early, skipped my morning routine, had breakfast, and took a walk outside, then stayed in bed reading my novel, scrolling my feed and napping. I then had a late lunch and bathed right before the kids came home in the evening. Did I feel good? At first, yes. In the evening, however, I felt edgy for multiple reasons: - I felt I could have gotten more done.
- A fabulous Instagram page pulled me into an unhealthy comparison of wanting to create a nicer area to take videos and learn better video editing skills.
- A disagreement with my hubby led me to feel short-tempered.
- My nose-congested daughter resisted her evening shower, which got me into barking orders to get into bed instead.
Fortunately, this morning, after meditating and journaling, I felt better. Perhaps, this is what was missing yesterday; taking care of my mental and emotional realm, not just my physical realm. - If I had drained my toxic thoughts on paper, I would not have sent that SMS to my husband that started the disagreement.
- If I had watched my thoughts in meditation, I would have been more likely to pause instead of react when my daughter refused to take that shower. I might have been more compassionate to her physical state because she rarely says no.
I don't know when I will have another do-nothing Saturday, but if I ever do, I sure will make time for journaling and meditating, even for just five minutes, exactly like I do most mornings. Committing to them will make me enjoy my rest day more. I hope I did not overwhelm you with my day of rest experiment; it's my current life season but not necessarily yours. I hope you get to have a few intentional minutes of rest this week, dear First name / friend. P.P.S: Calendar Fun: This is week 9, day 57 of the year. |

This week, I continue to share with you my digital life report according to my favorite social media management app Appblock: - I spent +23% less on my phone than the week before.
- The daily average was 3 Hours 31 Min, compared to 2 Hours 56 Minutes in the previous week.
- My top three apps were Instagram, Netflix and WhatsApp in order.
Below are the rules I shared with you last week and how I did: - 20 minutes of Netflix phone app on Sunday-Wedensday: Achieved.
- 1 hour on Instagram daily max: Not achieved. I nearly doubled my usage compared to the previous week. The average was 45 minutes, the range was 41 minutes to 1 Hour 37 minutes on Thursday. That's when I shared a post and chatted with a friend on DMs. Also, the workload was less in general last week, so I might have checked in more than I like to admit during the day.
Share with me your rules, I would love to know some of them and perhaps I will share them to inspire my social media friends. |

“A grandfather is talking with his grandson. The grandfather says, “In life, there are two wolves inside of us which are always at battle. One is a good wolf which represents things like kindness, bravery, and love. The other is a bad wolf which represents things like greed, hatred, and fear”. The grandson stops and thinks about it for a second then he looks up at his grandfather and says, “Grandfather, which one wins?” The grandfather replies, “The one you feed.” |
