Well…

It's been over a month since we chatted last.

We don't need to FULLY go into it (at some point, you're going to get annoyed with my mental health chatter) but I'm trying like hell to fix and write and publish. Soon. And everyone who got a crappy copy of Drunk Girl—including those who were caught up in the accidental release last year—will get the correct file. I don't have a timeframe at the moment. Ideally in a week or two, but once again rent is due and once again, I don't have it. So gig work it is, sun up to sun down, until rent is paid. And then after I'm not so exhausted, then I can write. I can tell you that I know all the changes that need to be made in Drunk Girl. I know where the plot holes are and what I'm doing to fix them. Then there's Caged Lion, which I swear is 75% written in my head. It's just being able to sit at my computer for 10+ hours at a time, and getting the words out (I can't do hour sessions. It takes me a good three hours to get into a grove, and then the words flow). I just can't do that when I'm struggling to make sure I have a roof and the ability to feed my dog—the only reason why I'm here. There was a point two weeks ago where I had the very real fear that I maybe can't afford to be his human anymore, and that was a very, very scary thought.

Anyway.

I have a bunch of February newsletter commitments I failed to comply with, so you're going to be getting a shit-ton of book suggestions here, as well as a recommendation (I devoured this book on the plane to Dallas for Holidays with the Belles, and then re-read it the next night because I just loved the characters that much).

Also, speaking of events, Readers Take Denver is coming up in one month and I'm closing my preorder form (it says closes 2/15 but I extended). If you're in Denver, or want to come to Denver, we have an AMAZING lineup of authors, as well as numerous panels and events to take part of. If you're looking for a reader/author convention, I'd love to see you in Colorado. Head to the bottom of this newsletter for more information.

Yes, it's part of a series that's part of a world.
But I fully believe you can pick up this book and be just fine without having read the others. You'll just maybe WANT to read the other stories after ;) Kind of like my world of books.

BUT. I say READ THIS BOOK.

It's so good.

It opens when Jax “Gem” Stone and the HOT team are extracting Everly Fairhope (and the congresswoman and other staff), but then jumps to a few months later. They were strangers in the beginning but by chapter one, they've dated a few months and she's now broken up with him. Gosh, I wanted to tell Everly to tell him her reasons so many times, but the suspenseful times throw them together even when Gem really wants to protect his heart and stay away—except when she's shot at in his presence. Then his protective instincts kick in.

Beth Davenport has no interest in getting involved with another man for the foreseeable future. To say her last relationship ended in disaster would be a colossal understatement. The only reason she agrees to put in an appearance at Serpent’s Kiss, a private kink club in downtown St. Louis, is because her best friend, Nicole, won’t quit nagging her.

As a captain with the St. Louis Fire Department, Drew Parker is used to being in charge. He decides to join Serpent’s Kiss to see if what appeals to him in fantasy is something he wants to explore in the real world.

After what happened before, Beth is reluctant to get involved. Drew, however, won’t take no for an answer. Will she give him a chance, or did her ex leave her with scars too deep to heal?
