Hello from Maine, where we're prepping for eight inches of snow tomorrow. That's on top of a ton we've had lately. For what seemed like a light winter, mother nature came after us with a vengeance in Feb. I have to tell you… I absolutely love it. There is nothing like writing you a new story with snow flakes dancing outside my windows.

A couple of quick things to report today, and then I'll leave you with pictures of my adventure in Rome. My favorite is the shot of our son, Riggs, at the skate park with the Colosseum in the background. They grow up fast, don't they?

I had the great pleasure of joining a very creative and off-the-wall podcast called Somebody Write This that puts the hosts, Hannah and Jennie, together with a guest author to come up with a plot based off an ABSURD AI-generated premise. What a brilliant idea. I had an absolute ball. Give it a listen here.

Per my last mailing, you might wonder whether it was the Roman or the Neopolitan pizza that won out. I'll admit that the pie we had on Via Tribunali in Naples was the stuff of legend. You'll see a picture of it down there--it's the Margherita one. The one with artichokes was a proper Roman style from Dar Poeta. Ultimately, I can't decide. I still think the crispy thin crust of a good Roman pizza, having olive oil in the dough, is hard to beat. But! The way the fior di latte mozzarella melts into the San Marzano tomatoes creates a flavor in the Neopolitan that will make you break into an operatic vibrato.

We also spent a day in the National Gallery for Modern and Contemporary Art. With both art and classical music, I've always been a bit more of a modern and post-modern enthusiast as opposed to a traditionalist. Wandering the nearly empty halls of this extraordinary museum, I experienced an artistic awakening. One exhibit in particular knocked me to my knees. This is a series done by Iranian photographer Gohar Dashti. Considering what's going on in the world, her shots struck me right in the soul. The way she captures the couple in their different heartbreaking scenes is to me what art is all about. I promise you it's worth the time to open the link on a desktop to see the details of the photos. I'm teary-eyed simply thinking back to the first time I set eyes on them.

You can bet I'll be checking out the new Amazon show, Daisy Jones & the Six. Though this wasn't my favorite book of hers, I'm a big Taylor Jenkins Reid fan. She's got the skills. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is one of the best books I've read in a decade. I'm excited for Taylor and can't wait to see her words hit the screen.
