BEAVER BITES

  • Those living in or planning to visit Toronto in 2024 will get a chance to “fly” over Canada in just a few minutes. FlyOver Canada, one of Canada’s top simulated attractions, is coming to the heart of Toronto’s Entertainment District.

  • Speaking of Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario is set for a major 40,000-square-foot expansion as well, thanks to a $35 million dollar donation from Canada Goose's Dani Reiss. C'mon, Dani, donate to Must Do Canada as well!

  • They say all publicity is bad publicity, but for WestJet, we're not sure that's the case this time around. Typically (actually, always), when someone books a flight, they want to actually get on a plane, but due to a flight cancellation, these WestJet customers were offered a 7.5-hour bus ride instead. Yikes!

  • The ocean makes up most of the world so we're happy to learn that a global marine life agreement has been reached. After more than 20 years of negotiations (good god!), United Nations members agreed to a framework to protect biodiversity in the high seas, which refers to the parts of the ocean beyond national boundaries. Canada has also promised Indigenous partnerships and 10 new marine conservation areas.

  • Speaking of good “eco” news, Canada has seen a 6.7% decline in carbon emissions since 2005. The Canadian Climate Institute says emissions and economic growth are “decoupling”, meaning GDP is rising while emissions fall. Nice!

  • Anne of Green Gables is pissed off. Well, sort of. A legal battle is brewing over the name of an Anne of Green Gables musical as U.S. producers sue their licensing body for right to put on musical.
