Famous chef, author, and television personality, Julia Child made French cuisine accessible to American audiences. I love the Julia we see in The French Chef, as she practically pioneered the modern-day cooking show, but what I love most about her is her start to life and Julia pre - Le Cordon Bleu.
Coming from a well-to-do family, much was expected of her. Perfection, college, marriage, and probably *not* entering the workforce… but Julia didn’t quite fit the mold. Hitting a height of six feet and two inches, you could say she may have been a little different than the other girls. Before finding her way, she went through a period of not fitting in, slight failure to launch, and even being fired for insubordination!
And when she did find her way, she found herself in military intelligence during WW2. Her service was in an organization that was pre-CIA, she was in India 1940-1945, had an assignment in China, and actually met her husband during her time in military intelligence.
One of my favorite women of history, she is such an inspiration to keep fighting until you find your way - even if you are going against the norm. She had a wonderfully quirky personality, and being herself ultimately was the thing that catapulted her to wild success and the love and adoration of so many.
