BEAVER BITES

  • Despite having its brand battered in recent years, WestJet is ready to takeover the Bahamian skies as it completes a takeover of Sunwing. Anyone wanna go to the beach?

  • Meanwhile, it doesn't look like Flair Airlines will be expanding anytime soon. The Canadian discount airline had four of its leased planes grounded over non-payment to their Dublin-based owner, Airborne Capital. It owes Airborne US$1 million for the planes and has been trying to renegotiate the lease terms after a tough winter.

  • We stopped bothering with Air Miles years ago when they expired the thousands of points we had earned over the years. Surprisingly though, 10 million Air Miles accounts are currently active and BMO is planning to acquire the popular rewards program after its owner filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

  • Do you know of a city struggling to attract tourists? Well, perhaps all they need is a joyful fat cat. Even in the Polish city of Szczecin, which is home to castles and cathedrals, the #1 attraction is a cat named Gacek. Dubbed the ‘King of Kaszubska Street’, Gacek has been gaining admirers – and even drawing international visitors – since 2020.

  • 130 trucks full of human waste are sent from Maine to New Brunswick every month. This is set to grow and as you may have guessed, has sparked environmental concerns.

  • Tim Horton's once again misses the mark with customers. First, they illegally tracked customer data and then responded by offering free donuts. Now, in an apparent glitch in their Roll-Up-The-Rim game, winners of the $10,000 daily prize have been notified that it's not true and instead, they will get a $50 gift card. Expect lawsuits to follow.
