Welcome to Notes From Natty - our standing Friday morning coffee date (inbox style of course) where you get a weekly writing tip, a round up of the latest at Natty Writes and Friday Finds and Faves that I simply can’t gatekeep. Grab your cup (I’ve got mine ☕️) & let’s dig in ⬇️
Every Monday on Instagram, I post a series on stories and call it ✨ Monday Moments ✨
The idea is to let my followers in on a little more behind the scenes of my life as a blog writer (because TBH as much as I love to watch day in the life vlogs that fill my for you page on TikTok, I simply don’t have the time or energy to film and edit them myself) sooo I found a way to sorta kinda do the same thing, but IG stories style.
If you follow along and have seen Monday Moments, you probably have noticed how consistent my Mondays are: - I wake up between 4:30-5 on most days
- I sit in my favorite chair in my cozy office and do my regular morning routine which consists of Bible reading and prayer journaling
- After that, I try to fit in some personal development reading
- From there I either jump into a morning writing session or start getting ready for the day
- After a few hours of working, I’ll head to my favorite appointment of the week - the chiropractor (I guess you could say I’m in my “nervous system regulation era”)
- And then I head to Kroger to pick up our groceries for the week
And the Kroger stop always gets a feature in Monday Moments because I can’t give enough praise to the people who created a system so that I don’t have to physically walk into a grocery store if I don’t want to.
(If 2020 gave us one good thing, I’d argue it’s that!)
Every single time I park my car, call the number to tell them I’m there and they bring out my groceries, I’m reminded of the importance of conveniency for customers.
When I think about the things that I regularly use, the courses that I've taken or the things that I love, most of them have a level of conveniency to them.
And when I think about the things that I've canceled, don’t use or tend to avoid, it’s because they lack conveniency.
Yes, you read that correctly - toothbrush subscription. A toothbrush isn’t necessarily the hottest item on the market that you hear people talk about everyday, but anytime I get the chance (which honestly isn't often 😂) I tell people about BURST because of its conveniency factor.
The way it works is you buy your electric toothbrush once and then you set up an auto subscription to receive a new toothbrush head every month.
Never once do I have to remember to add a toothbrush head to my Amazon cart or pick one up during my weekly errands. It’s taken care of for me!
On the flipside of this, conveniency is also the reason that my pilates class never once made it into Monday Moments.
At the start of this year, I decided that in addition to my dailyish walks, I was going to add in a group pilates class to my routine 3x/week. I went to the starter class, bought the membership and had really good intentions of going.
But after a month of going maybe 1x/week, I quickly decided it wasn’t going to work… not because I didn’t like the workout (it was actually great and I still want to be a fit pilates girlie), but because the pilates studio wasn’t convenient for me.
Now, they can’t control where I live or where their studio is (unless they open new locations), so this isn't really on them. But the fact that I canceled my membership because of how inconvenient the drive was for me proves my point that conveniency matters.
By now you’re probably wondering what all of this has to do with you..
Well, if you’re a business owner, considering what is convenient for your audience and customers is major key. The convenience factor of your content and your offers can directly impact if someone engages with you, buys from you and then, if they do buy from you, if they actually use or implement your product or service.
And this is why I’m such a huge proponent of blogs for your content specifically.
Have you ever found someone on Instagram who has great content, but because it’s only on Instagram, you find it hard to consume? It’s like you’re interested in what they have going on and you want to learn from them, but the nature of social media makes it challenging.
I know I have!
When you create blog content, you’re not only setting yourself up for the long haul by letting your content live in a place where it never expires, but you’re also creating a bingeable resource library that someone can access at any time they want to get the content that they specifically desire.
HELLO CONVENIENCY. 👏🏼
