From the Mayor's Desk
We have a lot to celebrate in College Park, including the arrival of our new city manager, Stanley Hawthorne. Earlier this week, our neighbors at the Chick-Fil-A Support Center hosted Mr. Hawthorne and our leadership team so they could begin to build the relationships that will ultimately serve you better. We're excited he's here and we look forward to him getting to know all of you!

Keeping You In The Know As We Grow

Georgia International Convention Center Gateway Center Arena  Historic College Park Golf Course

Did you know that the Historic College Park Golf Course was established in 1929? It is owned and operated by the City of College Park, most recently it was included as a part of the Parks & Recreation Department. However, in 2021 – Mayor & Council made the decision to move the golf course under the umbrella of the GICC and they became part of the Gateway Center Campus! As spring approaches- the golf course team is getting ready for their busy season. This will include a “Summer Series” golf tournament that will be held on the 2nd Monday of each month from April-August. More information to come on this exciting development- but for you it means that it’s time to head over to the course.

KEEP COLLEGE PARK BEAUTIFUL

March was a Great month for Keep College Park Beautiful (KCPB). On March 6h we were officially certified as a Keep America Beautiful Affiliate.  We joined the ranks of over 750 affiliates nationwide and some 70 plus affiliates right here in Georgia.

KCPB kicked off the Great American Cleanup (GAC) on Saturday, March 25th and it was an amazing success.  We had over 100 volunteers that including volunteers from Historic College Park Neighborhood, Woodward Academy Girl Scout Troop 20104, Police Department, Code Enforcement, Foster Family Foundation, Walmart Old National location, Book Bank Foundation,  Pink Poles, Favor House, Ward 4, Link’s Neighbors Group, College Park Women’s Club (CPWC), Cambridge Cleanup Crew, and Main Street. Councilmen Allen and Ambrose join in the fun of the day.

We collected over 80 bags of trash and found some locations where larger items had been dumped.  Each full bag represents over 10 lbs. of trash, making our collection almost half a ton.  We covered across College Park, touching all 4 Wards.

Thank you again to our many volunteers representing all ages and we look forward to you joining us again in the future. To volunteer contact :fkennedy@collegeparkga.com
