Hey First name, here's one question we get asked frequently and we've got a detailed answer to it!
When it comes to projects & clients, we always like to say -
*Overcommunication is a good thing*.
During the intro / negotiation stage:
➊ Communicate what’s included into your service clearly
➋ Communicate what’s NOT included even more clearly
➌ Communicate what extra services they may opt into and how much those services cost
➍ Make sure you have written communication on the above so you can reference if needed should any tricky situations arise
➎ Be proactive in bringing up any frequently asked questions typical to the project you’re discussing with your client.
➏ Communicate your payment terms clearly
➐ Communicate what things may influence shifts in timeline (communication delays, specific prop shipping times, extra revisions etc)
During pre-production:
*Assume nothing!*
➊ Communicate your ideas / concepts to your client and get formal green light before you proceed to the next steps
➋ If you’re sourcing props / backgrounds for a project, it’s a good idea to offer your client an opportunity to take a look and provide confirmation
During the production:
➊ Keep your client in the loop and send regular updates throughout the project
➋ Inform of any delays / changes to the original plan you both signed off on
➌ Offer and discuss solutions to any unexpected problems that may arise during the production process
