BOOK CORNER WITH DR. NEWMAN | 03
“You Are a Badass” by Jen Sincero
The April book of the month is not a new book, but one that might put a bit of spring in your step. After the long haul of winter, I am finding myself looking for something lighter, maybe even something fun that doesn't feel like work. The best selling book "You Are A Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life" by Jen Sincero, seems to fit the bill. This radical departure from your typical self-help literature takes a fun spin on our bad habits, ego trips, and negative perceptions-and ways to recognize our gifts and inner rebel. Chapters include "My Subconscious Made Me Do It," "Your Brain is Your Bitch," and "Fear is For Suckers"-among other gems. Let's get outside a little more this month and get outside ourselves enough to laugh a little-and maybe even reclaim our inner badass. Happy reading!

Courtney Hall - Mental Health and Alternative Movement
Speaking of badasses, Courtney Hall came on the podcast to discuss the power of movement and mental health. One of Courtney's first experiences at the gym involved her sitting in the parking lot, panicking, and eventually driving away out of fear. Now she teaches pole dancing, fire performing, and has her own business! Tune into our podcast to learn more about her mental health journey and visit her links below to learn more about her or book a private session with her!

Psychedelic Journeys in Columbus with Amy and Chris
Meet Amy Kies-Budzynski and Chris Ryan who founded Entheogen Integrative Wellness Counseling, an organization devoted to helping people grow through experiences with psychedelics. There is lots of research that is happening in the psychedelics world. John Hopkins alone is backed up with $17 million in funding to conduct research because “magic mushrooms” show there is so much potential when it comes to healing! See article here if you want to read more on psilocybin research at John Hopkins.
Chris and Amy are on the forefront of the Ohio movement to legalize psychedelics. They see in their day-to-day work how healing psychedelics can be. They incorporate psychedelics into mental health counseling and they see amazing results with their patients who are able to connect with their inner truths faster than any other traditional counseling approaches.
If you are interested in hearing more about their work, we interviewed Chris and Amy at (podcast link). Feel free to submit any questions you may have for them and we will ask them to answer.
