3 Biggest Impacts
in Spring Cleaning

I have a confession to make - I'm a really nice person to my family until the piles and mess gets to the point where they feel like they are closing in on me. That's when I lose it.

And at least I recognize it. As a way to combat that tendency, my husband and I regularly spend time cleaning up our piles and moving things out to the garage for our semi-annual yard sales. We've not only become expert yard sale hosters, but we are really good at cleaning up! (Our kids… well, they aren't there yet)

So without further ado, here are 3 tips that will have amazing impacts on your home and mental health:

  1. Declutter in 15 minute increments.

    - I promise that if you spend just 15 minutes at a time, really focusing on that small area, you are going to feel really accomplished. Then, take 15 minutes to tackle another area once you are ready. So take that junk bag where you've been throwing every receipt, school art project, hair clip, and piece of lint and spend just 15 minutes to clean it up.

    - It's tough to have a clear mind when your space is cluttered & chaotic. Instead of an all-weekend-long deep cleaning extravaganza, you can fit in these 15 minutes throughout the week.

    - Choose your room, then start pile by pile or mess by mess, straightening up/tossing what you no longer need/organizing. It's going to feel so good to have a fresh space!

  2. Take care of your body with clean cleaners.

    - It doesn't help if you use chemical-filled cleaners on your hard surfaces and laundry. These can wreck havoc on your endocrine system and liver!

    - Your liver performs over 500 functions in your body! One of its main roles is to support detoxification by filtering toxins & hormones. If you struggle with digestive issues, skin issues, hormones issues and/or allergies, it's time to show your liver some love, and you can do that through the cleaning products you use.

(If you are looking for further ways to support your liver, respond here, and I will send you some other tips, PLUS I will let you know when my new ebook comes out on our liver detox pathways.)

    - If you need suggestions, I keep an updated list on my website of my recommendations.

  3. Release emotions and set new intensions.

    - There are different ways you can do this. Prayer, meditation, journaling, Emotion Code or energy clearing sessions…

    - In order to step into new beginnings, we need to first focus on our current thoughts & emotions. There are probably negative emotions that are your go-tos (like anger or fear). But these don't serve you well. Isn't it time to have some spring cleaning on them?

    - To do, this start by granting yourself the space to feel your emotions. There is no way to “think” our way around emotions – we need to feel them in order to process and move through them.

-Journaling is a great way to get out all the thoughts swirling around in your mind and put them onto paper. You can “release” them by ripping up the paper (or even burning it) if that feels good for you. Then, start a new page in your journal listing out some intentions for yourself, or make a list of all the things that bring you joy & gratitude.

    - If you feel especially stuck, contact me for an emotion clearing session!

    - Once you have cleared these emotions, you may also find that some of your physical complaints are gone as well!
