Hello friends! In December I wrapped up this “Pinch” installation commissioned by Sarah and her family.
I've finally had the piece professionally photographed and I'm excited to share it with you!
The forms dance along and “pinch” the wall to reveal the blue sky and clouds beyond.
Made from CNC-routed, then folded, high-density polyethylene (HDPE), the process of finding a material and adhesive which met the client's requirement for humidity resistance was a design challenge to be sure.
Sarah and her family are pictured above in their back yard accessory dwelling unit where this installation lives. We all are so happy with the way this piece turned out!
This work is one in a series of “hidden color” artworks which demonstrate how color can be reflected and visible while not directly exposed to the eye.
Below is the study series of models which kicked off this design exploration into reflected color.
Ellen Cassily and Frank Konhaus (shown below) encouraged this design exploration while they graciously hosted me for an artist retreat during the summer of 2021 while my house and studio were under renovation / mold remediation.
I completed the installation shown above in their home during my stay.

I've since completed several framed pieces of art using this “hidden color” concept, two of which are shown below.
Thank you for the opportunity to share this special design series with you. A million thanks to the fabulous Matt Ramey (seen below) for capturing my work so elegantly!
I encourage you to consider Matt for your local photography needs! Click the button below to check out his work.
