Ullukkut! Thank you for joining the Isaksimagit Inuusirmi Katujjiqatigiit
Embrace Life Council's (IIKELC) monthly newsletter!

We are Nunavut's territory-wide suicide prevention non-profit organization and our mission is to support and encourage Nunavummiut to embrace life. We are committed to offering mental health resources and opportunities to promote community wellness among youth and adults throughout Nunavut. Please enjoy this message from our Director while we reflect on the last year…

IIKELC has had another accomplished year with the development of numerous new resources and the delivery of many projects. Check out our website to see how the our team supported the Nunavut communities in 2022-2023.  Over the past few years, IIKELC has demonstrated that one of our priorities is to include the Inuit values to our work. This year our work was reflected by traditional knowledge and the following principles:

Qanuqtuurniq - being innovative and resourceful
Piliriqatigiinniq - working together for a common cause
Pijitsirniq - serving and providing for family and/or community

Thank you for your continued support.
Qujannamiik!

AJUNnGI!
This February, 13 Nunavummiut became certified to deliver ear-acupuncture!

This treatment can help with digestion, sleep, and physical tension and can decrease anxiety, depression, symptoms of PTSD and cravings for drugs and alcohol.

We held community clinics that served over 100 locals in Iqaluit & Rankin Inlet and are excited to continue to offer this treatment to Nunavummiut.

IIKELC offers a variety of workshops which range from a half day to two full days. These workshops include ASIST and Reach Out (our suicide prevention workshops), Trauma Informed Practice, Our Children Our Responsibility (a workshop on child sexual abuse prevention), Talking to Children About Suicide, and others which can be found here. If you or your community are interested in hosting a workshop please don't hesitate to reach out; we would love to visit your community and share these resources!

Ajunngiputit!
We look forward to sharing new resources with you next month!
