Prepare to blossom

When we hit up your inbox on a fine Saturday morning with a fresh issue of Creativepreneur Digest, we hope to catch you during one of those two things:

V1. Sipping on an oat latte (*insert your drink of choice*) while people watching in a hip neighborhood coffee shop, total relaxing mode

V2. Plotting business plans and clocking in your CEO hours

โ€ฆ or some kind of a mix of both. Business & Pleasure has always been a favorite combo of ours!

Either way, we wanted to let you know that the SPRING IS HERE!

What does it mean for your creative business???

It's time to blossom, First name / friend!

โท Make sure your calendar is up-to-date with booked projects, take note of your realistic availability for 2-3 months ahead.

โธ Reach out to your past clients with a short Spring Check-in email to offer support with any upcoming launches, marketing plans and other needs. If you calendar is getting booked fast, mention your availability / next opening.

โบ Do a quick check of your equipment and see what can improve your workflow and bring fresh energy to your workspace: fresh backdrops, props, foam boards, c-stands for photogs; mockups, font packs, digital goods for designers.

โž Plan out at least one personal project / spec work project to spruce up your portfolio and get you closer to the dream clients in your niche

The way you enter the new season matters! It's time to lose the stagnant energy and prepare for the business high's. That abundance mindset you keep hearing about? Work on actively applying it to your business, and get ready for big shifts!

Hot Tip: Retainer contract ๐Ÿ“‹

Working on retainers with your clients and want to see how you can easily customize our standard Commercial Content Agreement to fit your needs? Let's do it!

For starters, the Commercial Content Agreement inside our Contract Pack already comes with instructions on how to personalize the contract template for your creative business. It's a versatile contract template designed to work for any creative business as long as you have a) clients and b) final deliverables.

Photographers, videographers, stop motion creators, graphic designers, copywriters - if you need a solid contract for your services, this is the one! The title of the contract can be anything you want it to be - just change the word โ€œContentโ€ to whatever creative service you provide!

And, you don't need a separate contract to onboard your retainer clients!

Here are the 3 paragraphs you'd want to customize with enhanced details when you send it to clients who want to book your creative services on a retainer / long term contract:

โžŠ Work Product / Deliverables
You want to have final deliverables outlined in detail per month / batch throughout the duration of your retainer agreement, line by line.

โž‹ Payment structure
We recommend taking a deposit for the whole duration of your retainer agreement and then breaking down balance payments per month / batch / however you structure your retainer.

For example, if your retainer contract is for 3 months, with set deliverables per every month, with a monthly retainer rate of $5000, the whole project total is $15000. You can charge a 30% or 50% deposit fee upfront for the whole project (for 30% - $4500, for 50% - $7500) and then break down balance payments accordingly upon files delivery each month / batch.

โžŒ Cancellation
It is important to emphasize at what stage of the retainer and in what form cancellation can be made by each party, and what percentage of the total project fee will be refunded, if it all.

The rest of the contract remains the same - well detailed and protective legal language to keep your biz running smoothly!

โœนโœนโœน
However you're spending this weekend - kicking back or working on your business, enjoy! We do recommend you get some fresh air either way!
