Hello First name / Friend,,

Throughout May, we’re introducing you to two new members of our team, William Warrener and Aksa Saghir, who together work on our leadership and creativity programmes at universities around the UK!

We’ll be discovering more about them over the next few weeks through the creative challenges they set for us - this week it's over to William….

"Hello I’m William, Head of Academic Programmes at 64 Million Artists! Outside of my day job, my favourite way to get creative is through all forms of music, the thing that’s closest to my heart. Created, performed, danced or just listened to, it allows me to unclench and let go when my frequently anxious mind is attempting to exert too much pressure. In London I used to organise a Sunday night choir in the attic for all my friends as we gathered ourselves for the work week ahead. As a teenager I was devoted to a band that taught us so much about having the courage to put yourself out there creatively. I’m currently part of the Bristol Folk House choir near my home and look forward to those Tuesday nights, knowing how I’ll feel while singing and laughing with people."

What music would lure you back from another dimension?

Imagine that you've found yourself transported to another dimension, one that runs parallel to our own.

You're desperate to return home, yet the only way to bring you back is for someone you know to assemble three things that you love beyond measure to lure you back from across space and time. These could be anything! Objects, ingredients, sounds, smells - whatever you like.

List, photograph or draw your three things. Write about why they mean so much to you or are so enticing.

“A friend of mine for example, went for 'salt, miso and the smell of her cat's belly' (see pictured above); another selected 'the smell of jasmine in hot weather, pomegranates and A Day in the Life by the Beatles.'

I love this challenge because it's a fantastic way to get a window into the highly specific things that can make each human being go weak at the knees, for whatever reason. It's a celebration of the power of tiny things to ignite our minds and souls.” - William

Take a few minutes, to reflect on exactly why your three chosen things mean so much to you. What do they remind you of? What memories are associated with them?
