There are several relevant factors to consider when answering this question. The first consideration is the large toilet paper industry and how toilet paper is produced. It is estimated that a single roll of toilet paper uses 37 gallons of water, 1.5 pounds of wood, and 1.3 kWh of electricity to make! In comparison, a bidet is manufactured similarly to a toilet. Also, while toilet paper is sometimes required while using a bidet, they greatly reduce the amount of toilet paper needed per use. The second consideration has to do with the way that the items are used. Older toilets used approximately 6 gallons of water per flush- today, they use anywhere from 1-4 gallons each time they flush toilet paper waste. A bidet uses just 1/8th of a gallon per use. In general, bidets require less resources than toilet paper to produce and use. Click here to learn more. |

The ASCP Free Store will be closed for the Summer season, however, we will continue to accept donations. The permanent store dates will be established at the beginning of the semester. We will start off with our annual Free Move-in Store happening at the beginning of the Fall Semester (specific dates TBD). This will be a great time to gather supplies for the upcoming school year and sustainably refresh your wardrobe. Please remember to always consume responsibly even with donated items. We appreciate your patience and understanding and look forward to seeing you next semester! We are currently accepting donation items in a bin placed outside Tivoli Suite 346. We will accept items such as: - Wearable clothing: NOT stained, torn, or wearing thin.
- Household items in good condition (kitchenware, fans, mirrors, etc.)
- Usable school supplies (blank notebooks, binders, folders, etc.)
- We will NOT accept anything with stuffing/filling (pillows, stuffed animals, down comforters, etc.)
