Dear Friends,

 

Three years ago I created a business that didn’t seem to exist: one with a primary goal of helping clients manage the unavoidable logistics of death and dying. When deciding what to name my company, I chose a name that paid tribute to my late mother and her passion and expertise surrounding Victorian mourning customs.  

 

So, while I’m grateful for everything I’ve done and all of the clients I’ve served under the name Black Dress Consultants over the last three years, I felt like we were due for a little change. Our business has grown and evolved in ways I never could have imagined, and I felt that our previous name no longer fully represented who we are and where we're headed.

 

Therefore, I am excited to announce that Black Dress Consultants has undergone an exciting transformation. 

I chose the name AfterLight for several reasons. First and foremost, I want our company name to shine a light on the industry since, in our experience over the last three years, light is what our clients needed the most: lighter loads and lighter hearts.

 

Secondly, our prior name was causing confusion in the marketplace. People often mistook us for a fashion label, stylist, or event planning company. Our new name will help us to better connect with our audience and clearly communicate the pain points we solve.

 

Finally, I wanted a name that would stand the test of time and grow with us as we continue to expand. AfterLight represents our commitment to helping clients navigate through loss and find hope and healing after a death.

 

As we embark on this exciting new chapter, I want to thank you for your continued support. I am thrilled to continue serving you under our new name, and I hope that you will join us in celebrating this important milestone.
