Let's break down the energetic opportunities at hand and what to be mindful of on our daily journeys…
The Full Moon Eclipse in Scorpio opposes the Sun in Taurus.
We have a couple of weeks left of Taurus season, a season focused on balance, stability, and doing what we need to do for increased pleasure, ending on May 20. Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, money, and relationships, and it represents the second astrological house, so ask yourself: How has this season spotlighted your money, work, daily routines, priorities, habits, and values? How has it offered you the opportunity to get your hands dirty to stabilize these areas of your life?
The main event, though, is this weekend's Full Moon Eclipse in Scorpio. Are you extra tired? Aggy? Emotionally saggy? All of the things? Yeah. You're definitely feeling it.
Scorpio is the water sign associated with intensity, transformation, and the passionate discovery of truth, and again, this isn't just a regular Full Moon, this is an Eclipse. Over the past year, the South Node (which vibrates energy in the areas where we must release) has been in Scorpio, while the North Node (rerouting us to be in alignment with our true path) has been in Taurus, so we've experienced many a transformational eclipse in these signs.
This is the final Scorpio eclipse of its kind for nearly two decades. On July 17, the North Node will shift into Aries and the South Node will shift into Libra starting an entirely new season of eclipses in these signs that will correspond to new seasons of beginnings and endings in our lives. So the importance of this moment is unmistakable.
Scorpio is represented by the scorpion as well as the serpent and the phoenix. Like them, this energy is reminding us our dual nature, both the hidden, darker aspects of ourselves as well as our ability to transform, shed, and grow anew. By acknowledging and confronting our fears, emotions frustrations, and what we deem as "negative," we give ourselves permission to learn and release, to embrace new mindsets, and create new pathways for growth and evolution.
This final Eclipse in Scorpio encourages us to dive deep within, to tap into our own scorpion and phoenix energy, the fierceness through which we accept and move through the flames we initiate that are burning down what currently stands in our lives in order to pave a new way. To dive deep and rediscover our passion, not for what we're meant to do, but who we're meant to be. It's about opening ourselves up to vulnerably receive the death and rebirth that's calling us towards an entirely new existence.
Ask yourself: Where am I being resistant to change? Why? Keep asking yourself why until you come to the root of your discomfort.
Astrologer April Elliott Kent states, "Eclipses symbolize what needs to change in order for us to leave the nest of familiarity and fly toward broadening adventures. Since Nov. 2021, these changes have taken place in the signs of Taurus and Scorpio, the fertile polarity that celebrates the physical world and its natural cycle of growth and decay. This week brings the final Scorpio eclipse until 2031. The final eclipse in a sign is like graduation day; have we made the changes required in the Scorpio realm of our charts? Scorpio is a fine sign, but like all of them it has its shadow qualities: suspicion, jealousy, vengeance, to name a few. Have we made real progress in letting go of these tendencies? Have we turned over the soil in the Scorpio house of our birth chart so we can plant new things there?"
So ask yourself: Look at your birth chart and what astrological house Scorpio lands on – Have I turned over the soil in the Scorpio house of my birth chart so I can plant new things there? If not, where am I tying myself down?
What it means for us: There are mad cosmic bodies in Taurus.
The Sun, the North Node, Mercury retrograde, Vesta, and Uranus are all stationed in Earth sign Taurus, the practical sign of balance, stability, and reliability. Let's break down what they mean and why they're important for us right now:
We already highlighted the Sun in Taurus as a season focused on balance, stability, and doing what we need to do for increased pleasure. Maybe the lack of satisfaction in your life has been highlighted so you can work on shifting the why, but if it hasn't, asses your levels of pleasure and contentment in each area of your life. If they are low, this is the ideal time to open yourself to practical ways to improve your experience. This will almost inevitably lead to some shadow work, so pay attention.
The North Node has been in Taurus since January 18, 2022, pointing us towards what we need to learn and take on to align with our destiny. Ask yourself: What changes have occurred in the last year and a half that have brought me closer to my truth? What have I learned? What am I practicing and prioritizing now that I wasn't in the past?
Mercury is retrograde again, making our communication run amok, and while it's stationed Taurus, we should be looking into the past to best make sense of what we're feeling now. Lots and lots of lots of reviewing in order to receive clarity.
Vesta is the the asteroid that represents harvest and abundance. In Taurus, it magnifies earthly, grounded energy and reminds us of our human power to make our dreams a reality. It reminds us that through the power of our mind, body, and spirit, we can do anything we put our practical minds to.
Uranus has been in Taurus since March 2019, but it is extra important right now because on Tuesday it makes a conjunction with the Sun. Uranus is the planet of awakening and upheaval. At best, it is about change, freedom, and liberation, but we often feel Uranus move in the most abrupt and disturbing ways. In Taurus, the most grounded sign, it reminds us that this is a time of committing to our liberation by welcoming innovation and change, but only through breakdowns and breakthroughs, many of which will not be pleasant.
As Uranus and the Sun come into conjunction on Tuesday, we need to be real with ourselves, for real. We're called on to be radically honest with ourselves so that the changes that we've been praying, asking, and intending for can actually happen. This is energy that reminds you that you hold the key to your own prisons. It's energy that pushes you in front of proverbial mirrors and asks you to see what you've been missing…or purposely avoiding.
With all of the cosmic bodies and the Universal movements we've spoken about, the theme right now and for the next few weeks is freedom through practical change. Take agency over the trajectory of your life by seeing, not only your potential, but what you can do right now so that your life could be entirely different a year from now. What areas of your life does this point to? What feelings does this bring up?
