and a little flower”

This Month in the Garden

My summer garden transforms during hydrangea season. I don't do anything to adjust the color of the hydrangeas, so usually end up with pinks and purples in varying hues. They are “endless summer” hydrangeas which do best with morning sun and dappled afternoon shade. Hydrangeas are so lush because they bloom on the previous and current season's growth. The flowers will turn burgundy in late summer, which seems a fitting transition in September.

PPT Tip:

Use an acrylic paint pen to write names on hydrangea leaves for seasonal place cards or to identify items on a cheese board.

Going straight into my beach bag! Annabel is an adored author in my town. Her last book, Nora Goes Off Script, was an all time favorite. This one promises to be another smash hit! Pub day is June 6th.

LIVING
Summer in nYC
June is the perfect time to visit NYC! It's not too hot and there's lots to do outdoors.

Restaurants got creative with outdoor dining over the past few years…and much of that creativity remains. For an indoor activity, Broadway is back! Big names are taking the stage and drawing people in. Lea Michele in Funny Girl! Laura Linney in Summer, 1976 until 6/18. Erich Bergen (of Madame Secretary fame) is in Chicago
