It's finally time to start welcoming you to the farm in a new way—events! Events at the farm are something we have been working towards since we began restoration in the spring of 2022. You all have been so patient with us as we have been putting in so much time, attention, and thought into our spaces. When we began restoring the farmstead at Cassidy, we knew it was going to be a massive undertaking—and we had big goals to get all of the spaces completed in 2022! We wanted them to be ready for the 150th anniversary of the farm! Even though we didn't hit that deadline, we have been so proud of how everything has turned out. The things worthwhile do take time and we know that the time we have invested into restoring the farmstead for the next generation has been worthwhile. We truly believe that the timing is working out exactly as it's supposed to!
We have the Haybarn available for small events May through June that include birthday parties, showers, graduation parties, and dinner parties. We truly want you to be able to host any event at the farm so please know it is not limited to the above. We have loved seeing all of your sweet faces in the Mercantile and Flower Co lately. We had a wonderful time helping linkxlou.springfield celebrate their one year anniversary in April for our first pop up event! Save the date for Friday, June 9th for our first family event on the farm. We will be sharing more information with you later this month about that special event!
We got a new furry friend at the farm last week. Buford (Ford for short) the bull our new Belted Galloway bull arrived at the farm and we think he is going to make the perfect addition to our little herd!
Another thing you all have been patiently waiting for is our photography session calendar! Sessions will be available at the farm for a minimum of 2 hours and the price is $10 to reserve your spot. This is for outdoor photography sessions only. If you have any questions about indoor sessions or other special requests you can respond directly to this email. We can't wait to see all of your beautiful family photos on the farm!
This months recipe has me thinking of upcoming summer barbecues with friends and family! This classic recipe is something you want to have in your back pocket for any potluck or summer event. To be honest, I hated coleslaw until I tried this home made version. I have never bought it at the store again and everyone I make it for loves it…if you ask me the secret ingredient is celery seed! As the warmer days settle in, as the kids wrap up school, and as we begin traveling for summer vacations we want you to know you are always welcome on the farm. We love it when you bring your kids and family (no dress code required!) and come and visit with us, share what life has been like lately, and tell us all the amazing things you are up to! We are working to be able to plan many different events at the farm for you to enjoy with your people. Some will be casual and we will ask that you bring a lawn chair. Some will be thoughtful and engaging, and then some will be down right fun! We hope that even through the busy summer schedules you will take the time to come to the farm, unplug for a bit, and embrace the slower pace. We will have a rocking chair and a cold cup of lemonade waiting for you.
