Ah, it's Summer!
Welcome to May, where we embrace the bittersweet symphony that is the end of school.

The time when the alarm clock and chaotic morning routines take a well-deserved hiatus. When packing lunches transforms into picnics and impromptu ice cream trips. When backpacks collect dust and our living areas morph into forts and crafting studios.

But let's be real. As much as we yearn for these sunny days, there's a part of us that experiences mixed emotions. We're thrilled to say goodbye to homework battles and forgotten permission slips, yet we can't help but wonder: "How will we keep our sanity this summer?" 😅

I dropped the perfect summer in exchange for the present summer long ago. Here’s to hoping this edition of ‘Life of And’ helps you be present for your people. It’s packed with some of my favorite summer-time tips.

3 outdoor activities for your under 10 kiddos

  • Buy a paint roller and give them a bucket of water. Let them ‘paint’ the sidewalk, garage door - literally anything. There's no clean up because it’s all gone once the water dries. Hours of fun!
  • Take water colors to the beach or pool. Grab a pad of canvas paper and a palette of watercolors - and voila! you’ve added a fun activity under the umbrella so you don’t have to leave so soon.
  • Goodwill dolls/ trucks for the win. For some reason ‘new’ dolls and trucks get all the attention. So I go to Goodwill and stock up on babydolls and dump trucks to make the sandbox and outdoor clubhouse ‘new’ again.

3 Ideas to keep your teenagers off technology
  • Make a list of jobs they can do with $$$ tied to it. Put the cash right there so they can grab it when they’re done. Want some new Lululemon shorts? Do a job.
  • Make cookies or cards for a local senior living facility. My kids (girls… so it’s what I know) are most often looking for a creative outlet. Teach them to see others around them that need served.
  • Get a pile of new games and have friends over. Throw those cell phones in a basket and get out some new games. Have prizes for the winners. Goodwill is another good place for games. Half the fun is trying to figure out how to play.
