Welp it's Pride month. 🙃

Of course I'm deep into planning my biggest + best ever SF Pride + also… I'm feeling the grief (+ anticipatory grief) in our community right now as the right-wing turns more and more against my trans siblings and all of us.

To my devoted straight allies, pretty please don't just party: we need you to make our world safer, starting with the needs of those LBGTQAIs with less societal privilege (hint: don't just support efforts by gorgeous, chic, well-connected, wealthy, white gay men).

To queer/trans folks: This June, while the straight allies are busy advocating for us, educating themselves, and donating to LGBTQAI organizations 🤞, let's give each other permission to soak up all possible queer joy, costumes, lazy chosen fam moments, global LBGTQAI music, and love. Consider it fuel for the struggles.

Hey, fellow bisexual, pansexual, fluid, label-free, or "heteroflexible," pals: under the rainbow, did you know we are the majority? Three out of five queer people fancy more than just one gender for dating + love!

Surprised? Well: it might not seem like bi people are so common, considering only 20% of bi people are "out," compared to 63% of gays and lesbians (Stonewall, 2020).

Hint! your colleagues + neighbors are probably not as straight as you think! eeeeee!

As a queer youth in the 1980s and 90s, I had so few bi (+ also queer femme!) role models, which stunted my identity figuring and self-confidence.

Despite being very out now, working in the LGBTQAI+ inclusion space, and throwing events for bis/femmes for decades, I still crave seeing “out” bi femme famouses (to name some faves: Whitney Houston, Janelle Monáe, Susan Sarandon, Aubrey Plaza, Da Brat, Björk, Kehlani, Lady Gaga, Lilly Singh, Drew Barrymore, Jameela Jamil, Angelina Jolie, Cardi B, Margaret Cho, Cameron Diaz, and even 🐅 Carole Baskin (lol!) #representationmatters).

p.s.“Queer” = all of us who don't feel 100% hetero, 100% of the time. Welcome 🌈. (No one gets to litmus-test you.)
