Let's break down the energetic opportunities at hand and what to be mindful of on our daily journeys…
The Sun and New Moon are in Taurus right before the Sun shifts into Gemini for the next month.
We're experiencing a New Moon in Taurus at the tail end of Taurus season. For the past month, Taurus season has put a collective spotlight on our money, work, daily routines, priorities, habits, and values. Even as we waded through powerful eclipses and a Mercury retrograde (eclipse season is over!), we should have felt our pleasure pulse pretty strongly, either because we were poised to experience more pleasure (Taurus is ruled by planet of love, money, and beauty, Venus), or because the Universe was showing us where we're misaligning ourselves with the pleasure we want to feel.
Ask yourself: Where do I stand with pleasure? How has the last month spotlighted my money, work, daily routines, priorities, habits, and values?
Then on Sunday, May 21st, the Sun shifts in Gemini, commencing Gemini season. Ruled by planet of communication Mercury and represented by the twins, Gemini governs everything communication, versatility, rapid thoughts, our logical mind, and our ability to create, honor, and uphold duality.
In Aries season, we're sparked with inspiration we want or need to get to where we're destined to be. In Taurus season, we have the opportunity to patiently work on increasing our proximity to our goals, to pleasure, to doing the things that make us feel at home with our Highest Selves. And in Gemini season, we get clear about it all. We can communicate what we want more efficiently and work smarter, as opposed to how we might work harder in Taurus season. (I know you've been going hard. Take a breath!)
With this New Moon, we have a lot of Taurus and a little Gemini energy to infuse into our New Moon rituals and intentions. Have grace with yourself as you look back at the past couple of months and what you've had to release in order to move lighter. Focus on the version of your life you're refining your vision. Focus on setting intentions for what you want to feel in each area of your life. Ask yourself: How can I make things better?
This is not just any ol' New Moon in Taurus. With so many planets stationed in Taurus, including planet of expansion, luck, and abundance Jupiter swinging into Taurus for the next 12 months, we're in what could be a magical moment for us. The intentions we plant and the energy we focus on cultivating right now will flourish beautifully throughout this year if we continue to be consistently intentional and nurturing.
What it means for us: There are still mad cosmic bodies in Taurus.
I say still because there were mad planets in Taurus two weeks ago when I delivered the Cosmic Insights for the Full Moon Eclipse in Scorpio too. The Sun, the New Moon, Jupiter, the North Node, Mercury, Vesta, and Uranus are all in earthy, grounded Taurus. In short, the Taurus part of our birth charts is getting activated with BIG TIME new beginning energy. Let's break down what exactly is happening and how it's useful for us:
Jupiter shifted to Taurus on May 16th and will be there until May 24th, 2024! This is important because…as the planet expansion, abundance, and luck, Jupiter magnifies the qualities of whatever sign it is moving in. In Taurus, the power of the expansion we'll see is connected to amount of work and effort we put into our goals and intentions. I know that the phrase, "I don't chase, I attract," and that "Lucky Girl Syndrome" have become increasingly popular recently, but that couldn't be less true for this energy. You can sit and wait for something to fall in your lap or hustle in alignment. What you hunt and catch will grow in bounty with Jupiter in Taurus.
We could see beautiful things blossom collectively, like a renewed focus on how we care for the earth, an emphasis on pleasure and how we can create more of it, greater value placed on herbs and nature as medicine, and even economic justice and reform. But we could also see the shadow sides of Taurus emphasized: materialism and impulsive spending, overindulgence, possessiveness, or stubborn reactions to change.
Personally, we're getting cosmic fertilizer in the astrological house that Taurus rules in our natal chart, so take a look at that and pray: Spirit, show me how amazing it can get! Then commit to focusing on making your experience more easeful and pleasurable. Be real with yourself about what you have to do (or undo) to see this to fruition.
The North Node has been in Taurus since January 18th, 2022, pointing us toward what we need to learn and take on to align with our destiny. Ask yourself: What changes have occurred in the last year and a half that have brought me closer to my truth?
Mercury is no longer retrograde, but we're still in its shadow period until about June 1st. Don't fret, though. Every day we get a little clearer, and in Taurus, we gain clarity about how to communicate what we want our lives to be. This is helpful because, with Jupiter here, this could mean more resources, assistance, and tools.
Vesta is the asteroid that represents harvest and abundance. In Taurus, it magnifies earthly, grounded energy and reminds us of our human power to make our dreams a reality. It reminds us that we can do anything we put our practical minds to through the power of our mind, body, and spirit.
Uranus is the planet of awakening and upheaval. At best, it is about change, freedom, and liberation, but we often feel Uranus move in the most abrupt and disturbing ways. In Taurus, the most grounded sign, it reminds us that this is a time of committing to our liberation and our visions of our future by welcoming innovation and change, but only through breakdowns and breakthroughs, which aren't always pleasant. Be okay with less rigidity and more fluidity.
What it means for us: Mars moves into Leo and makes a T-Square with Jupiter and Pluto.
This week I had to look at my astrology apps and remind myself where Mars was stationed and when it would move because I've been SO fatigued and unwilling to do things I wanted to do. If you've been like me, feeling lethargic and/or slow to act, it's because Mars has been in Cancer since March 25th.
In emotionally-driven Cancer, fiery planet of action and aggression, Mars is debilitated. While we had the opportunity to learn how to deal with conflicts in a softer way with Mars in Cancer, we could tend to be more passive-aggressive, over-protective with those we're close to, and wanting to burrow in our pillows and blankets versus facing the world.
On May 20th, fire-sign Mars shifts into Leo – yay! Leo is a fire sign ruled by the Sun, all about personality, creativity, passion, and authority. With a fiery planet in a fire sign, we'll be poised to wake up from the energetic nap we were forced to take and focus on nurturing our goals and intentions.
It may feel like a lot of blunt force simultaneously, though, because Mars is starting its transit by making a T-square with Jupiter and Pluto.
This cosmic configuration is represented by a giant "T" in the Universe, with Mars (planet of action and aggression) at one end of the crossbar, Pluto (planet of transformation) at the other end, and Jupiter (planet of expansion and abundance) at the base of the stem. Energetically, T-Squares trigger breaking points, pushing us to show up, hold ourselves accountable, and make transformative decisions that favor our freedom and soul truth.
Because of the nature of T-squares and the fact that all of the planets involved are in fixed signs, this energy will tug at the areas of our life where we've been unwilling to budge. Be mindful of being too rigid with your opinions, expression, and decisions right now.
Spiritually, it's important to release your attachment to human expectations regarding your intentions and what you want to manifest.
Reminder: What we think we want in the physical and material world is often connected to what we're spiritually lacking. So as you feel a tug to loosen your grip, remember that it's not because you're not worthy of what you want to feel having that thing you want. It's because you're worthy of much, much more.
