Hello First name / there

Do you feel as if someone finally flicked the light switch outside? The temperatures are finally creeping up and the extended daylight is coaxing plants out of the soil faster every day. I love May. Glorious pops of colour appearing in the midst a myriad of greens.  It reminds me of being a small child looking longingly up at the mountains of brightly coloured sweeties on the pick ‘n mix counter.  I don’t know which I love the most - they're all gorgeous.

This week, I dived right into the mass of colour, shape and perfume and spent a day at Chelsea Flower Show.  I wanted to race back to my watercolours and play with the colour palettes I saw.  The painting at the top of this email was inspired by a garden, and this one.

There was so much inspiration at Chelsea, I wanted to share it with you all. So, I wrote a post about the connections I found.

☀️ You can read it here.

I'm planning to do some drawing and painting in the garden while I still have my Chelsea Flower Show inspiration.
(That's if I don't get distracted by the process of propagating, planting and pruning to create even more plants. The kitchen table is covered in packets of seeds at the moment - it may be getting a bit out of hand. But then it makes a change from having piles of art books and tools)

Journey of Discovery
Things I've found this month that think you might like
  • It's hard to grow beyond something if you won't let go of it. -  James Clear
What are you planning to let go of this month? I've not decided on mine yet, but this is my focus for the coming month.

  • Last night I watched The Whale - the performance that won Brendan Fraser his Best Actor Oscar. It's not a theme that would usually draw me in, but I found it riveting and powerful on so many levels. The Oscar was a well-deserved acknowledgement of a breathtaking performance.

  • Some ideas about ideas.
