Skrats win pre-season game at The Sparta Dome |

The Skrats put their skills and training to the test with a pre-season game last night at the Sparta Dome. Playing through a great game against NWI Lions United, the Muskrats came out on top with a score of 3-1. As pre-season, lasts nights game allowed the 2023 Skrat roster to better understand each other on the field. Starting XI: Greene, Smith, Hansen, Stott, Shaw, Damron, Shaffer, Evers, Carrubba, Loebert, Weber. |

The First Half… The Muskrats started off with low energy, but quickly gained momentum and as the game went on, the team came to their power. The Skrats scored 2 goals in the first half, one being scored minutes before halftime. Obviously the main goal of every game is to win, but with this being the first pre-season game, the teams overall goal for the night was to learn how to be a team, communicate effectively, and get the job done. |

The Second Half… Going into the second half with much higher energy, the Muskrats applied pressure, not letting NWI Lions United score another goal. The crowd watched the team dynamic shift into high gear at the second half. Kelly Shaffer (12) scored a goal about 20 minutes till full-time, propelling the Skrats to their win. |

From the Head Coach… "Its always difficult going into the first game like this because the group of girls have only been together now a week.” “There were a lot of takeaways from the first half that we spoke about during half-time. Talking straight into the second half shifted momentum and we started to get more comfortable on the ball and finding a purpose.” |

From Olivia Hansen… “We all come from different places. We have some things to work on, but we have a great group of girls and the things we practiced at practice, I think we did good on today." "I'm excited to see what happens this season.” |

The Muskrats will be back in action on Saturday May 26th, when they will travel to Milwaukee to play against the Milwaukee Torrents. 7pm Central Time kick off! |
