Welcome to Notes From Natty - our standing Friday morning coffee date (inbox style of course) where you get a weekly digest of stories, writing tips and a round up of the latest at Natty Writes. Grab your cup (I’ve got mine ☕️) & let’s dig in ⬇️

Hey hey, First name / friend!

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably noticed that I was OOO the majority of this week.

I was in the big apple with my sis for her birthday trip. 🍎🗽

Birthday trips are a tradition of ours because we both love traveling to fun places and creating extensive itineraries to cover a LOT of ground in only a short amount of time.

Down time? Never heard of her. It’s just how we roll and I absolutely love it!

Every time we get back from a trip and tell people about all of the things we did, they always ask the question: “HOW did you guys do all of that?!”

Our answer: because we PLANNED for it.

The planning process for a sis trip is no joke. We both do our research (aka scroll TikTok) and send each other our list of MUST do’s.

(The only MUST on my list for NYC was coffee at Ralph’s 😂☕️)

After that, we’ll create a shared interactive map to mark all of the places we want to go and things we want to see so we can make sure we plan our days efficiently.

Then, we’ll create a shared note with a detailed itinerary of reservation times and addresses so that we waste no time when we’re there.

To you, this might not sound like a vacation at all. But to us, it’s our best life!

We have an absolute blast, but I’m not so sure I could say that it would be the same if we didn’t take the time to plan well.

Every minute counts when you’re on a sis trip and having to decide where you’re going to eat, what time you should go so you can still make the show, how far away it is from the hotel and when you need to call the Lyft is exhausting. And it sucks the fun out of it, honestly.

The planning saves you from a lot of doing once you’re there so you can enjoy the moment and take it all in!

And that doesn’t *just* apply to vacationing, either.

I’m a planner girlie through and through for everythingggg (I’ll admit, sometimes it gets out of hand), but if there’s two things my planning personality comes in handy for it’s:
  1. Vacations
  2. Blog writing
I’m sure there’s more, but today I just wanna talk about those two.

Why Planning Your Blog Content In Advance Is Important
Q3 Blog Content Planning Party
Writing Tip of the Week
Blog Content Planning Resources
As a blog writer, I write a LOT each week for myself and for my clients and the writing wouldn’t come as easily if I didn’t have a plan for it.

Here’s why: it’s almost impossible to sit down in front of your computer and randomly decide what you’re going to write about on a whim.

(if that happens easily for you, you’re amazing – keep doing you!)

But it’s very rare that happens to me, which is why I always encourage people to plan for their blog content in advance.

And I’m not just talking a few weeks in advance…

I’m talking at least 3 months in advance.

Yes, you read that correctly. One whole quarter!

I know that might sound like a lot when you read that, but in reality it’s not that much to plan for depending on your blog publishing schedule.

Most of my clients (and myself) publish new blogs once a week. This means that we only need 12 topics (maybe 13 or 14 if the weeks fall weird) for an entire quarter.

If you plan to post 2 blogs per month, you *only* need 6 topic ideas.

And in the grand scheme of things, that’s not that many!

When you plan your blog content this far in advance, you’re able to know exactly what’s coming up so that you can easily execute.

Just like my sister and I knew that we had a broadway show at 8pm and dinner reservations at 6pm which meant we needed to leave the hotel at 5:15pm - there was no further thinking involved! We knew this all along and acted accordingly.

For your blog content, the plan may change slightly as you go, but the point is to get you OUT of idea and thinking mode and into ACTION. 🎬

As we approach June (where the heck did May go?!), I’m already thinking about my blog content for Q3 and I want to help YOU do the same! 🎉

If you already have a blog in your business (but can’t seem to stay consistent) OR you want to start one soon (but the lack of a plan keeps holding you back) YOU’RE INVITED to the ✨ Q3 BLOG CONTENT PLANNING PARTY ✨

Writing Tip of the Week
Plan.

That’s it - that’s the tip. Just kidding… sort of!

If writing (or really content creation in general) ever feels hard for you, there's a chance it’s because you don’t have a plan in place to help you think creatively.

By planning mine and my client’s blog content topics 3 months in advance, I’m allowing my brain to get out of forced thinking mode and move into creative thinking mode.

When you know what content topics you have coming up, you will subconsciously start to think about them while you’re doing mundane daily things – like washing dishes, taking a shower or on your afternoon walk.

And that’s when some of your best ideas get sparked. ⚡️

Then, when it’s time to write you’ll likely have a much more creative flow of words instead of being met with a blinking cursor because you don’t know what to write about.

So, if writing your blogs, emails or even your social media captions feels like pulling teeth, I encourage you to start PLANNING for them.
