Coach’s new circular collection is made from upcycled materials; the bags are traceable and returnable for repurpose. Textile dyeing can be a seriously polluting process — enter the new Dyestuff Library from Fashion For Good. Closed loop textiles are taking hold, thanks to innovators like Evernu. Investors poured $6 billion of venture capital funding into recommerce companies in 2021 and the market is project to reach $250 billion by 2027 - five times faster than overall retail. And now that the company is America’s largest apparel retailer, it's good news that Amazon has committed to phase out toxic chemicals in clothing
Climate critical
Bidirectional charging is the idea that when the grid goes down, your EV powers up — if SB 233 passes in California, all new electrical vehicles sold in the state by 2027 will do it (and, as Cali goes, so goes the nation). New forecast shows the U.S. could add enough solar and wind energy by 2030 to power 100 million homes. Speaking of, if we solar paneled all of those flat warehouse roofs, we could power more than 19 million U.S. households every year. IKEA expanded its program to connect suppliers with renewable energy, which helped decrease its carbon footprint by 5% last year. A new survey shows that 88% of Americans believe large corporations have a responsibility to reduce their environmental impact and IBM’s new study found 70% of executives see ESG as a revenue enabler. Globally, one in five cars sold this year will be electric and within a decade, two thirds of U.S. cars — plus half of freight vehicles and 25% of heavy trucks — will join them. Finally, could this be the decision that finally tipped the scales against Big Oil?
