Hey First name / friend!

When someone asks you what do you do for YOU? What is your answer?

Sometimes we think about self-care as a day at the spa, a manicure, or even a nap. If you only have a little time for yourself, you may pick one of those (I know I do sometimes too!).

However, let’s flip the script on self-care and think about it as things you can do every single day that will make you feel your best.

For example, fueling your body with whole foods instead of processed junk is the epitome of self-care! Taking time to work out for your health is also self-care. Although these things might not be as “fun” as a nap or a day at the spa, they are critical to taking care of YOU!

This week, I encourage you to write down three things you can focus on that will set you up for a better tomorrow.

My three self-care focuses this week are:
Focus on whole food nutrition.
Get 3-4 workouts in this week.
Sleep at least 8 hours a night.

Too busy for self-care? Think again!

Instead of feeling like self-care means you have to find childcare, take a trip, get a manicure, or have your hair done, let’s think about it on a more day-to-day basis.

Here are my tips to focus on self-care even when you think you are too busy!
  1. Create a nighttime routine. Doing the same things before bed will help you fall asleep faster. Also, try to avoid eating too close to bedtime as well.
  2. Learn to say no! Sometimes you need to say no to other people so you can give yourself the time YOU need. It is okay to choose yourself when you need to!
  3. Cook more at home. Stopping at a convenient fast food restaurant is not going to give you the quality food that you can make yourself at home. Take care of you by making yourself nutrient rich meals at home when you can.
  4. Make time for your workouts and schedule them just like any other appointment in your calendar.
  5. Along with scheduling your workouts, schedule your time for you in your calendar as well. Guard that time just as you would for anything else, and make sure you are doing what will make YOU better tomorrow!

Get out of town for a weekend. Even just a night away from home can give you new energy to conquer everything that is thrown at you.

Grabbing a hotel room in the city you live in is a great way to see things in a different light. Go camping or go to a nearby town you have been wanting to explore. Grab dinner and go on a hike the next morning so you can go back to your regular schedule rejuvenated.
