May was a month of new beginnings in College Park. We celebrated the grand openings of several businesses in the city, including The Main Course on Main Street and the New Standard Learning Center on Phoenix Boulevard. South Park Cottages on Godby Road held a ribbon cutting as well. It is the largest micro-home development in Georgia, the seventh-largest in the nation, and the only minority-developed community of its kind in the United States. There is so much to celebrate in College Park! As we enter the summer months, our Recreation & Cultural Arts Department has many activities planned for the young and the young-at-heart. Our team did an amazing job planning the Senior Showcase in May, and we are all grateful for their efforts. This month marks the opening of our pools and the splash pad at Phillips Park, so get your bathing suits ready and join us as we open the facilities for the summer on June 5th. Also on June 5th, the fiscal year 2023-2024 budget will be on the agenda for consideration. There will be a public hearing before the vote. If approved, the budget will go into effect on July 1st. Please join us at 7:30 pm at City Hall if you wish to voice your opinion. Have a happy and safe Juneteenth! |

The Mayor and Council approved salary adjustments for all City employees, effective July 1, 2023. Note: This is NOT a salary increase but a salary adjustment to the market. The Office of Human Resources recommended the Move Toward Market (3 Tier) Tenure approach. Based on the minimums of the new pay grades, this approach is intended to address compression concerns by adjusting employees’ salary position in relation to tenure and midpoint. A longer-tenured employee would receive a greater percent increase to the midpoint. Employees with salaries above the midpoint would not see a change as a result of this approach. Employees receiving a recommended market adjustment of less than 3% will receive a 3% adjustment to their current salary. This is the first time in almost 30 years that City Council approved a Salary Adjustment. Thanks to Dr. Baker, Director of Human Resources & Risk Management, and his team for all their hard work and dedication to the City employees. |
