To My Beloved Patients at INMC,
It is with regret and respect that I share with you this personal note.
I have been engaged in a very personal journey of health with you, my beloved patients, since 1982. I have enjoyed this intimate relationship with each of you for varying lengths of time and the experiences-never dull, largely positive, and mutually gratifying.
You have watched me change and grow over the years: first as a Chiropractor then as a Naturopathic Physician and Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, from a small clinical practice with 2 exceptional partners (Drs. Posen and Brown) to a large multi-disciplinary medical centre with a team of professionals who share a philosophy of medicine and a solid commitment to serve patients to their highest ability.
I am proud to have helped create this Integrative Naturopathic Medical Centre of excellence to serve the community. The philosophical foundation is the “integrative model of health” where we strive to bring together the best of modern (allopathic) medicine with the traditional healing arts in the context of science, culture, and community. I have deep gratitude in experiencing positive successes with many of my patients over time.
I have recently been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, specifically Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (DLBCL). It came as a complete surprise with no significant symptoms or illness, as evinced by only missing a handful of sick days over 40+ years of practice. I will endeavour to ask “the why” as part of my healing journey but am grateful to be able to utilize the full resources that Integrative and the B.C. Cancer Agency (BCCA) can provide. I expect a full recovery after a short duration of difficult treatment and will be engaging my Integrative team to optimize my experience and retain my long-term vitality and health.
I will continue to see patients on a reduced and limited basis during the duration of my treatments over the next 3-4 months but wish to remain focused on your individual needs when I am in office, remember this time is your time. I will keep my patient base updated on my healing journey though our newsletter and social media channels.
The INMC team will be alerted to provide full resources and availability for the continuance of your individual health journeys. I am working closely with the talented team of physicians here at Integrative to ensure every effort is made to provide you with outstanding care in my absence. I hope that your health goals at Integrative will not be interrupted by my current health needs.
